Hi Guys and Gals,

I hope that your 2015 is kicking off very well and that you are motivated and excited for the year ahead!

Today I want to share some personal news with you and give everyone a heads up with what my family has been going through.

Just before Christmas, my son Kai got quite sick, stopped eating and became weak. He's 9 months old and has always been a strong little guy, so this was totally not like him. Over the course of a few days his health continued to get worse and he became very very sick. We had taken him into the hospital a number of times already, and finally ended up at the main Pediatric hospital near our home.

After many tests, the head Doctor of Pediatrics came to give my wife and I some news that we could have never planned for.

"Kai has Leukemia"

The shock was incredible and our world was instantly turned upside down.

Within 15 minutes of getting the news we were transported to the BC Children's Hospital where Kai will be treated. Kai's chemotherapy started just 4 days after arriving...and just yesterday he finished his first round of treatment.

Kai, my wife and I will be living at the hospital full time for 6 months while he undergoes very intensive chemotherapy. Kai will not be able to leave his room because he will have no immune system and will be very susceptible to infection from the "outside world". Thankfully there is a place specifically for families who need to live at the hospital and we are very comfortable in our temporary residence here.

Today, I felt that it was time to share this with the WA Family, and let everyone know about the curve ball that has come my way. It's been a complete whirlwind the past 3 weeks since Kai got sick and I haven't been around WA blogging, chatting, and answering questions as much as I usually do, or as much as I would like to.

Kai is doing better already...

He has regained a lot of his strength, and our fun and playful little boy is starting to come back to us, full of smiles and many stories :)

Today he sat in his high chair for the first time since he got sick and my wife snapped a quick photo:

In my downtime and in-between my wife and my shifts caring for Kai in his Hospital room, I've been able to achieve some normalcy being very active with Kyle and My team working on projects that we have slated for the coming months and far into 2015. This year at WA is going to be full of improvements and new features, we are really looking forward to releasing them!

I have never been more excited about the future.

I am excited for the day when our doctors tell us that our son is Cancer free. I am excited about what the future holds for Kai and my family. I am excited about being able to go home and put this behind us forever.

I am also excited about what the future holds for WA...because we have many things coming to the WA Community that we really think you will love.

Life throws us all kinds of curve balls and challenges...my family has accepted this one and we are ready to take it head on. We are remaining positive and our spirits are high. We have a long road ahead, but Kai is a tough little guy who is being very brave.

Thanks for listening,

Carson
