Blog Posts: 55% Of Shoppers Read Reviews Before Buying (KPMG, 2017)
KPMG (2017) stats show that 55% of shoppers search for reviews before buying
I don't know about you, but I read the Amazon reviews and carefully juggle the pros and cons before making a purchase. In a sense, I haggle before I purchase...lol/
Just last night I found a KPMG (2017) report that revealed to me the importance of using this kind of "haggling" shopper behavior in online business. Shoppers like me want to get the best value for our hard earned dollar. We want to know that the online purchase delivers just what was promised.
According to KPMG (2017) 55% of shoppers do just what I do. They read reviews before purchasing. Less than 30% would do things like visiting the store and talking to friends and family. This facet of shopper behavior is is very important data for content providers like us. This research data shows where we are likely to catch fish when fishing online.
Apologies if I compared shoppers to fishes. Sometimes we could fish all night and catch nothing. This is because our online marketing strategies are not effective. As online marketers, therefore, we need to fish in areas where people are looking for our specific product..
It is my conclusion that reviews are likely to work in any niche based on the results of the KPMG study
All jokes aside, I believe that we should try to incorporate reviews in our content. In fact, most marketers highly recommend reviews as a mean of income generation. I know of marketers who make a lot of money reviewing products.
Strategies for conducting reviews
Some marketers ramp up their reviews by:
- testing out the product.
- interviewing the product owner
Note that this is related to software and other digital products. if you are in this niche, it would be a good idea to ask the vendor for a review copy.
One marketer recommended even taking real pictures of physical products where they are available. The sales person could even be interviewed, using a simple cell phone, based on teh policies of the store.
Making the review more interesting
Reviews could be done by including:
- thorough product descriptions.
- benefits of the product
- pros and cons
- images, demos, videos etc
- testimonials
Where to promote your reviews
You are sure to find interested people on Facebook and Pinterest and other social media sites. For example, on Facebook, search for groups devoted to the niche that you are in.
Join them, engage .and share relevant content plus your review links (note that FB and Pinterest do not permit direct linking to affiliate products)..
All the best!

Loved your post Cari. Great points.
Could you tell me if it's possible to move photos from my pin interest onto my computer, so I can use the photos in my posts.
Thanks in advance.

Yes. In the WordPress word processor, there is a little tab to insert image. Hover over the box until you find it. Click on it to upload your photos.

You are absolutely right! I always read reviews, be it books, cosmetics, online programs, just everything. That's why I find WA so amazing because we can learn here how to write good reviews, how to find the right key words to be ranked well and all about it.
So we definitely agree that as humans we love to have the best deal, hence the argument to include reviews on our blogs. They would enhance user participation.

You are correct, I am one of those who read reviews on Amazon before I purchase anything. This way I can weigh the pros and cons and then decide for myself.
Thanks for the informative post!
