Authoring & Writing Content

I am really excited about writing but I feel like I should have more than just my personal opinion. How detailed should my initial page content be? I'm feeling overwhelmed beca

As others have noted, the detail depends upon the page topic, the tone you want to take with the topic, and how deep you want to take the topic.

Don't look at it as "x number of words" you have to write. Look at it as your chance to introduce your topic to others. Use the same tone that you would use in person (providing you tend to act appropriately, lol).

If nothing else, use an old writer's trick. Blurt a bunch of words on to the page then clean them up so they make sense.

It really depends on the page and how your setting it up. I have a page that took me a couple hours to set up. I have another page (subpage) that took me over 30 hours and still counting (the page has a picture of a plant and the characteristics of that plant, such as height, spacing, uses, etc.) and there are tons of plants in that area (perennials). Basically it all depends on what you are doing. Remember the creative process is different in everyone, so there really is no set time.

i agree with all the contributions and want to add that you'll have your own followers who'd find what you write quite new so no need to worry.

There Is no set amount of time for me. I find It a creative process.

Hi Camie, it all depends on what you're writing about. You'll obviously do research on your subject, but if it's something that you know or do very well, then just writing naturally about it, is what people want to hear.

For example, my niche is canning and preserving, so I mainly post recipes. My latest post on Melon and Ginger Preserve, I wrote only from personal experience. I took my own photos, not professionally, and just wrote the recipe the way I made it. And it ranked on page 1 at #1 in Google.

I didn't even research a keyword because there was only one way to write the name of the recipe.

You will understandably want it to be professional, but you also don't want it to sound as if it was taken from an encyclopedia.LOL!

Good luck!

Lydia.

Hi Camie, you do definitely want to research on your content. First you want to see what the trend is out there and compare it with your perspective. You also want to be current. Like you rightly said, you don't want to put out an old idea, you want to give a newer perspective, better so, a unique perspective that makes sense.
Best wishes!!
