Learning From Past Mistakes
I’ve been a not-so-active member of the WA community since 2008. I would set up niche websites here and there and get a sale or two. So far so good, right? But instead of ramping up my promotion to get more traffic and sales I would lose focus and move on to my next BIG project. On top of that I didn’t reach out to other WA members for help or encouragement. Not surprisingly I got so discouraged at some point that I gave up on online marketing altogether.
So why did I start again?
- I think there are unlimited opportunities to set up and run a successful business online. The growing worldwide use of Smartphones and tablets only increases these opportunities.
- WA is the best place to learn and get support on online marketing. That’s why I am a premium member and I’m making full use of the resources. And clearly I’m no longer “hiding”. :-)
- I know I can make money online since I have done it before - I just have to stick with it this time.

I have made the exact same mistakes, the IM niche can distract you to the point you lose focus and then you lose sales followed by enthusiasm and the rest is as they say history.
Probably the hardest thing is to have faith in yourself and what you have planned to do to make money online. Once you know that you can make money then simply stick with that formula, chances are that the "other great idea" is a nowhere idea and when you change tact(chasing a BIG IDEA) you lose your momentum and your work falls apart.
Stay focused and don't let anyone sway you from your plan, then you will find success will follow just give it time.
Good post! I have occasionally lost interest in some of my initial ideas after I've spent hours and hours developing a website and writing articles to drive traffic, only to see just a trickle of traffic come in, and no orders. I suppose those that advocate promoting what interests you from the start is the best strategy. It's a lot easier to write about something that intensely interests you, and is much more likely to hold your interest so that you can continue writing about it.
Good luck to you Clarisse, and I hope to hear more from you. - John
Super post, great message. Keep focused and you will achieve your goals this time,
