Are You A Landlord?

I'm guessing some of you have rental properties? If so, I have a question for you. If your tenant has a one-year lease with three months still left on the lease, would you sell the property or wait until the lease is up before trying to sell? I've been on both sides of this debate at various times in my life, but currently I am the tenant. My landlady decided to sell the house out from under me, and since then it's been a nightmare. Constantly having people "looking" and invading my privacy. Now it's sold and the home inspector has been here all day, using tons of water and electricity that I'll have to pay for. I'm not a happy camper. On top of that there isn't much in my area available to rent that's decent and affordable, not to mention that will take two dogs. I'm so update that I can't even think about working on my websites right now. Afraid I'll end up homeless. I have 60 days to get out and nowhere to go. What would you do? I know it's not a WA problem, but I needed to vent and I can't do it on Facebook because my landlady will see it and get upset with me. I'm in a pickle!

Carol, i am a landlord but I live in the U.K. A lot of your legal protection will depend on the country you live in. If I were you, I would try to find out the position you are in legally in the U.S. You may be able to do this for free by using the internet.

Hi Carol, I am a Landlord. Which country are you living in? Irv.

The good old USA.

How long is your lease for? As long as you have a lease they can't make you move until your lease is up but then each state has their own rules so find out what your states laws are

All the best Carol .. Cheers William.

Hope you can find a solution to this issue and soon. I wouldn't concentrate to much here at WA for now but focus more on finding a new place. I wish you all the best in your efforts.
Jerome

In future if you can't get a pre-rental agreement...move on!

I am both a managing broker in real estate and a landlord. The owner of the home is within their rights to sell, however you have your right to continue until the end of your lease term. Your landlord cannot kick you out prior to the end of your lease so unless the 60 days coincides with the term of your lease you have the right to stay until the end date on your lease. You may want to consult a real estate attorney, that's how it is in the state of Washington.

It's a tight real estate rental market all over the country right now .
Best of luck to you in your search for a new home.

Hi there
You need to get a hold of yourself and decide on a plan of action
Having a roof over your head is so important for our well being and for our sanity.
Make a list of places and sites to check-over for accomodation in the next few days,
Put the message out to renters, estate agents and letting agents as these are you first ports of call.
eliminate these options as you go through them
You will see that something will turn up for you
After taking action you will feel better about your self and you will notice that your situation will improve.
Keep a positive attitude and you will succeed
Hope this helps
Cheers.........PB

I have had neigbors who were renting and the owner of the property didn't want to deal with rental property and put it up for sales---first time neighbor had 6 months left on her lease, the next time it went up for sale the renter still had 9 months on her lease

I just recently got a notice to vacate. I've searched for a room for a month and a half. I finally got one. It's much better than my old place.
