Your Thoughts Requested

A friend and I are trying to figure something out. Your thoughts and feedback will be appreciated.

We both have a pretty steady click through rate from our sites to WA. The question is, why do you think people aren't signing up? (Surely there's some IM law that at least one person out of thousands will sign up . . . We all know what an amazing place WA is, with wonderful resources, so what gives?)

I realize all of you reading this did sign up to WA so I'm talking to the choir! But if you have any thoughts on this we'd love to hear.

Thanks.

Getting people to the site is your job. Converting them is the job of WA. That said, if your readers know what they are coming for and are ready for what they find, the conversion process is simple.

Don't hold back, make sure that those that come, know what we have here. Your insider view can be a powerful selling point.

Thanks Labman. Key points from your comment: KNOW and READY
I can't do much about how READY they are, but I can make sure they KNOW what to expect.
Good advice. Cheers, Caden

here is an idea i keep thinking of but never have tried due to my insane schedule lately... just a suggestion; have a family member or friend go through your link from a different computer than your own while you are there and see what your visitors see to check for any glitches or navigation issues, confusing directions (through your newbie visitors eyes - not yours)

That's a good idea:) Thanks!

All I know is my own experience. I was getting a site called I Tried That, from Steve, a member here. He explained it very well, and I wanted to do it, but after being burned a few times with other sites, I kept putting it off, until I finally figured it wouldn't hurt, since the cost was only $47/mo, and I wasn't tied into a contract, so if they asked for more money, I could always quit, but it took me many months before I finally decided to do it. I'm sure at least some people fall into the same category as me. As for the rest, I really haven't gone through much of the training, so I'd follow the advice given by those who are more experienced than me. Good luck with it all. I think I'll probably give it another try, since I really hate to leave this community.

Cheers Cindi. You raised an excellent point - the people who come through links may need time to make up their minds. I think I've been thinking, because I signed up straight away everyone else is going to do the same!

I've been trying to figure this out as well. Perhaps a lack of really understanding WA. Give me a bit to give it some more thought.

Jim's advice below is really good.
I'm also wondering if the 'big boys/girls' are using PPC.
I've just written a blog that will put off the 'get rich quick' crowd, and hopefully appeal to the more seriously minded crowd. I'm going to continue in this vein and see what happens!

Hey Caden,

That's usually a sign that your traffic isn't targeted enough. What you are probably getting are fence sitters which typically never buy.

Also, there are a lot of people on the web that want instant riches (which don't exist) and WA is not going to satisfy that need for them.

I know it can be frustrating but the fact that you are getting steady traffic is good. As your visitor counts increase so too should those people that are looking for something good like WA will be in that mix and they will sign up.

Best Regards,
Jim

Thanks Jim - good response. Can you point me to some training on that? Does it mean our blogs aren't focused enough . . . ? Thanks for your help. Cheers, C

Hey Caden,

There is a training module by Kyle that describes the stages in which customers go through their research cycles and at what keywords they would be using when they actually go to buy something as opposed to when they are just starting out in the process. It's very good training and may help you with your situation:

You also have to understand that the "make money online" niche is harder than other niches as there are many people in it. It doesn't mean money can't be made there. But it may take more time than some other markets.

Another way to get around it is to capture people via email lists so that you can warm them even further to the benefits of WA. A further advantage of this is you could also sell just about anything to them as long as you nurture your list.

Best Regards,
Jim

Cheers. I guess that's my next step - creating a squeeze page to capture email addresses.
I appreciate your help Jim.
