WA Ranking
I am new at this and still baffled by much of WA. Right now I am thinking about the WA ranking. A few days ago my ranking was 26K +. Now it is 7184. I admit that I don't know what ranking means or how useful it really is. My only insight to the rise in ranking is looking back on what I have been doing different these last few days. Like adding new posts. And another thing is I have been aggressively following others and been followed in return. I have also started blogging. This is number 3. Also, I am taking a more active role in participating in Live Chat and replying back to comments to my posts. I have also engaged in commenting on other's posts in return for getting comments added to my posts. Personally, I think that getting comments to my posts is the driving force in improving my WA ranking. But all of these things I have started doing, together, probably demonstrates my throwing my ring into the community aspect of WA in a way I had not done before. Maybe that is the simple explanation. But I still won't mind someone explaining the value to having a high ranking in WA.

Hi Burton!
There is a distinct value of becoming Ambassador. It is not that easy. You need consistency. Discipline. Natural flair in helping people, or being truly sociable. There is a lot of responsibility such as giving motivation and suggestions to some real issues being presented by members. You should give or find the answers to the questions of everyone. You have to be around round the clock at the WA community. Write regular blogs. Daily if possible. Learn and be ahead of the learning curve. Be patient. Handle some rude comments with grace and finesse. Be always positive. A person who practices what he preaches. Be transparent and honest. It is sheer sacrifices!
No wonder, being Ambassador is a great honor and has a lot of credibility for being one. All the ambassadors here and those who have passed by as ambassadors are certainly people to be admired if only just because they became ambassadors.
Yes, I can speak for them because I am one. And sure, I am proud to be one. Just plain truth nothing else. I will be willing to be corrected if anyone among my peers says otherwise.
And anyone can be one FOR SURE.
Cheers! 😊

Hi Burton,
I can understand your consternation about the ranking system because I also felt that way when I was new. I recently wrote a blog post here that explains what this is all about. I'll add the link here so you can read it to find the answers you are seeking. What Are The Benefits To Your Business By Being An Ambassador In Wealthy Affiliate? I wish you much success in building your online business.
Cheers!

@apache1 have a link for you. In summary, it means you are active and engaging. Whatever it is, accept it and celebrate. I too did not know what it was until I realize there is a ranking but it has nothing to do with making money. Think of it as paying it forward community engagement ranking.
Thank is correct Stanley the ranking here is just one way of paying it forward to our fellow members and by engaging in creating blogs, training, helping answer questions others may have and follow and support each other will reflect your ranking status here.
Yet our websites are always first and foremost everything else we have here is an added bonus and wonderful bonuses at that knowing you have helped someone along their journey we all share.
Also note in a way you can make money with the site comments as well as creating training for others here. That is again an added benefit which you ranking can help in a certain way if members comment and like your training and accept your informative comments to their website
Apart from that ranking is mostly as you stated your activity and contribution made to the community

Ranking is all about community engagement and all the activities you mention are a form of community engagement. Keep in mind a high ranking (achieved by active engagement) is indicated by a lower number.
The WA community is an engaged forum, a place you can go to get clarification if you get stuck. Soon you will be able to give advice to WA newbies.
Community engagement can become addictive, keeping you from working on your site and creating content.
