What is everyone's favorite e-mail marketing tips?

I'm about to start e-mail marketing with my websites (really late, I know, I've had them a year, but I've been good to even make content lately, I've mostly been using social media) and I wanted to know some good tips from my friends here at WA.

I was going to go with Aweber, because they sent me a free 2-month trial in the post, so if you have any Aweber-specific tips, that would be awesome as well!! I do have 5 e-mails collected from having a pop-up signup list periodically to test things out. I'm sure they are wondering why they aren't getting e-mails, so I gotta start on this today if possible, so leave me lots of tips and encouragement, cause it's been a "day" already, and I'm definitely going to need it!
