Arts are a Beautiful WAy to Travel
The art of creative writing is a WAve we travel!
A few days ago Christine posted more about her Vision Board.
Before heading to bed, early, ...midnight, I read one more blog.
I found my self back in Montana, as I viewed the beautiful mustard fields!
Her vision sparked my memory of my trip to Montana, a place I'd wanted to visit,
since watching the movie "Legends of the Fall".
Anthony Hopkins and young, Brad Pitt starring starred as a father and son
with all the trials of early life in the newly developing Wild West.
Time was 1920's, ... Prohibition.
Though a most depressing sort of film, ...I always said it's the one movie,
where you look for something good to happen, but never did! ...
A vision was planted to visit!
"Meet me in Montana"...
In high school, my friend Kathy and I were pretty tight our senior year,
but soon after graduation, I went off to college, and Kathy took off for Montana!
We stayed in touch as well as we could, once reunited on FB.
2016, around July 4th weekend, I planned to travel to my sister's in San Diego.
I had this idea to travel to Flagstaff and SanDiego, and...the Northwest!
Folks thought, "That's crazy!"
Having learned many years ago, that others may not go with my program,
I easily dismissed all the negative thoughts and just went with my vision.
My first I thought, ... I'll go to Flagstaff, to visit my first college roommate, Susie
and then to San Diego, to see my sister, Marina. Afterwards, I'd head to the Northwest!
This was Plan A!
Always driving, as I have my Michi with me,
...we headed out west with a stop
in Flagstaff. While in Flagstaff, Susie and out mused
and brainstormed, ..." how I could get to
Montana, and the Northwestern states".
My sister wasn't going to be home for
another week, so timing was perfect!
Montana bound!
After a day of planning, and checking in with Kathy, I was off at dusk, heading to Utah!!
I-85, with a speed limit of 85 miles per hour, I was in Provo, by midnight,
where I pulled off and had a couple of good hours of rest.
By morning, I checked in with Kathy for just how to get to Columbia Falls, where she lived.
Every 3 hours, Kathy gave me the next set of directions! ...and I thought Texas was big!!
Through, Idaho, first, and finally Montana!! My "inch by inch" was really "mile per mile"!!
By 4 o'clock, the next evening, we had arrived!!
Where do you want to go, Barb?
I'd been the only person that had ever come to visit, and Kathy was elated!!
July 4th, Kathy, at the wheel of her pick-up truck, thankfully, while driving
was trecherous, we headed to Glacier National Park, anyway! No turning back!
I purchased my Lifetime National Parks Pass for Seniors!! $10
Now that's insanity! Everyone else, was headed there, as well!
Weather had been very snowy, all winter and there were still areas
that were closed!
It's the "Journey, not the destination!"
After 2 more wonderful days, I headed to San Diego!!
By, February, the following spring, Kathy was sadly, diagnoised with lung cancer
and passed away 3 months later. I followed the Spirit, when invited by my heart
and was blessed with the greatest gift of friendship! Time is precious!
Sometimes, next year won't do.
"On the road, again!"
I had, indeed, ticked Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, and Utah,
and Nevada, again! Off the "Bucket List"!
I spent the next 2 days, traveling to San Diego, my final destination!
"Visitors, relatives and fish, go bad after 3 days"! ...
With this in mind, my visits are always, ...short and sweet!
3 days with my sister and brother-in-law, and I was heading back to Texas!
On the way home, I stopped in Phoenix, Arizona, for dinner with another
high school friend, Rita! Both of us, with our Greek blood, headed to
My Big Fat Greek Restaurant!!
2 hours of reminising, and I was off again!
Short stop to view Las Cruces, New Mexico! Night time affords a most beautiful show of lights!
you've ever traveled I-10 across Texas, 880 miles from El Pasos to Beaumont,
you know, ...it's NOT an exciting ride, so I travel this trek, at night!
A day and a half, later, I was home!
As I head out on any given day, I start with "My Plan A"!
Always trying to be flexible, I look for what I call "God's Plan B'!
Many times I get my plan, but it's never the way I expect!!
It's always, better than I can imagine!
Here at WA, I began with my Plan A, 3 years, ago!
Detours and roadblocks came from the unexpected, but ...
I'm still here!
"God's time, not mine"!
I'm loving the journey!
Did you just take a journey with me?
Hope you enjoyed the ride!
Everyday at WA, we travel to other places and times, and visit with new and
old friends, some living, some not. We share their weather, good times and some bad,
...Into the future or to other Worlds!
Imagination! Infinite possibilities!
Mind traveling is really delightful!
Writing and Music are just 2 Arts for now...
Since I began this post, I've been to Kansas, Illinois, Florida!
Several parts of Texas!
Coral sea diving, Australia and New Zealand, Britian and
Ireland, and Perugia, Italy! Just to name a few.
I've been back to Vietnam, San Francisco for the Peace movement
College daze, and into the future with beautiful Visions! Prohibition,
Women's Suffragette, and the Wild West!
Turn up the Music! I think I hear Dr. Seuss!
"Oh, The places You'll Go!"
Congratulations!
Today is Your Day,
You're off to great places!
You're off and away!
You have brains in your head.
You have feet in your shoes,
You can steer yourself
any direction you choose.
You're on your own, And know what
you know.
And YOU are the guy who'll where to go.
Kid, You'll move mountains!
So...
Be your name, Barbara or Jeffery or Heidi
or Tim,
or Shahlia, Kaju, Greg, Fran or Ray,
You're off to Great Places!
Today is Your Day!
Your mountain is waiting
So... get on your WAy!"
Enjoy your journey wherever it takes you!
"Oh, Listen to the Music...", it starts from within.
With a happy heart, I bit you adieu, buenos dias, Ciao, and Cherrio!
And wonderful Dreams! Night! Y'all!
Best!

Wow, great post. Love Montana, but not the cold winters and all the snow! It is a great place to be from in the winter and like you said, huge!! We go back in the summer and travel the state! Lots of friends and relatives and traveling to do. Lots to see and do so our camper trailer doesn't sit in one place for too long!!
Lon, my friend Kathy and her Husband would take trucks and RV, down to Centro in Arizona, and escape the winters!
It was a most beautiful visit, and one I'll cherish forever!!
