Domain name scam alert!

Opened up an email in my junk folder and it was from Domain S.E.O. Registration Service They said a domain name that I purchased was about to expire and they wanted $64.00 for me to renew it. I'm a newbie, not to bright and two years ago I would have panicked and immediately paid them without researching it. I'm a little more hip to the scams now and since I bought the domain name through Host Gator for a year on 11/30/14 I knew something was up. I typed there name in the Goggle machine and low and behold third ranking down right under their name was a kind gentleman who had them down as a scam alert. Apparently they hawk their services as a S.E.O. super company that can boost your rankings through the internet roof. This kind man said they just take your money and run, I guess this domain name expiration thing is just another one of their dubious tricks. They have an address in Florida which is actually a Pak Mail address, they are really registered out of China. Please beware everyone and check out the companies you decide to deal with.

This also got me thinking (believe or not) maybe we can set up some kind of scam alert directory of old and new scams/companies that use questionable tactics to take in the unsuspecting. It could be very helpful for all here at WA especially the newbies.

Thank you and beware.

never open junk or spam mails, spam folder is for fraud mails and system automatically send fraud mails there, so leave spam mails and ignore always, otherwise you will be a looser

Thanks for the warning. I've been getting scam emails suggesting I put my website into a directory (at a fee of course) and if I do it before [date] I'll save. ~Marion

Like Gordo said, Thanks for the heads up

Thanks for the heads up on yet another scam! I myself know exactly when my dues are up, and have auto renewal as per Kyle's instructions. Why pay $64, when it's only $12 including privacy guard with Namecheap registry.
