Give Me A Break!

I have been longing for a break from the stresses of life. For some reason I haven't placed a great deal of emphasis on holidays and vacation breaks. But now I am feeling the pressures of life accumulating and find that I need to stop and take stock.... I have not really built in a lot of leisure time into my life and this is taking its toll. Maybe I need to review my mindset to include prioritising some time for me...

As a nurse in the current climate I can no longer afford to ignore the need to balance my life style to allow for recreation and self preservation. The cover picture shows the Kelpes in Scotland, one of the famous sights I visited last year.

This was in June last year when my church took us to Scotland for a weekend. It was beautiful! Scotland is beautiful....in the summer! I don't think I would be too keen to visit in the other seasons due to the low temperatures. But my outdoor space, is the park close to my home as we don't have a garden. (Pictured below)

So this is where I go for my daily walks and for outdoor exercise when the weather is good. Its a large park with lovely wildlife including squirrels, rabbits, foxes and a variety of birds. There is even a river flowing through this park.

So I do feel really lucky! And I count my blessings everyday. But most health care workers in the UK are struggling, especially due to winter pressures and the rate of inflation and hikes in the cost of food and fuel.

I just feel really wistful for a break now, to prevent burnout. I also long to see my dear mom back in Jamaica..... so I hope to give myself a break soon. But as I can't afford to take a vacation to Jamaica right now, please share with me your best tips and ideas for a low cost break that will be restful, reviving and rejuvenating. Or if anyone feels generous .... you may send me tickets to Paris or a place in the sun... invite me over for a week.... Whatever you feel would help, just give me a break :-)
