Originality AI Detector: A Case Study in Uncovering 100% AI Content-Is it Worth It?
Our digital Internet age places a high value on content authenticity. The difference between original vs. AI-generated content is a complicated process. Using AI software detectors can sometimes be unreliable. In this post, I will share how the Originality AI detector works and my case study experience,
What is Originality AI and Plagiarism Detector?
Originality AI Detector claims that they are an advanced software that analyzes content. It determines if your content is human or AI-generated. The software can identify patterns and characteristics related to AI-generated.
The detector uses its algorithms and machine learning techniques to catch plagiarism. It can also detect content from ChatGPT and other AI writing assistance software.
Originality AI detector software works magic by analyzing texts, sentence structures, and vocabulary. It seeks out the presence of specific phrases from AI-generated software. The software claims accuracy when it detects human vs AI-generated content.
How Does It Work?
To find plagiarism and repetitive content, machine learning techniques identify patterns. It also looks at different writing styles. It can detect intentional copying and pasting from other sources and unintentional redundancy.
It is great for checking academic papers written by students and for professors to check for AI-generated content.
Sign up to use Originality AI Detector, and they will give you some free credit (it is a paid software). After paying for the credits, enter your text into the tool and click "analyze." The software scans your text then you get a report telling you the percentage of your source being human or AI-generated.
Step 1: Upload Content: webpages, pdf, word documents, or other files.
Step 2: Generate Report: You will get a report that analyzes the content for plagiarism and originality.
Step 3: Review the Report: The reports will provide you with an overall score for your content's originality and list any potential plagiarism matches it finds.
Step 4: Do the Editing: If you did use ChatGPT or other AI-Assisted software like Jasper, Copy AI, or Frase to copy and paste, the report flags you as AI-generated content. You are encouraged to edit to human content, then resubmit the report.
Step 5: Publish Content: You can confidently publish your content: Originality AI provides a report proving the content is original and authentic.
Is Originality AI Accurate as Claimed?
According to Maddie Lambert, the Director of Marketing and Sales at Orginality AI, reports of inaccurate data in the previous model claimed it showed 100 percent false positives, even if it was 100% human-written content.
Maddie noted in an email that I received the latest version of Originality AI Detector "has the most accurate AI detection score we don’t believe you should apply hard rules around your AI detection processes and scores. False positives (although low) will never get to ZERO, and you should approach your response to AI detection with this in mind."
Maddie indicated that a false positive occurs on the new version if a writer submits content that scores well for originality 9/10 times but is flagged as AI-generated content once. But if a writer gets the same score every time, it is AI-generated.
You'll need to review the results and ensure they are accurate to take action. For those only interested in identifying AI-generated content, the Originality AI Detector also offers the option of disabling similarity checking.
What can we conclude from this? It is reasonable to think that the new software version has improved to reduce false data. We must verify the accuracy of the results.
But what if it shows 100% AI-generated even though you wrote in your own words? Is it because you used Grammarly? My case study will compare the results from my previous and today's posts on WA blogs.
My Case Study: Uncovering 100% AI Content Using Grammarly Go Premium Version
Most of you know that English is my second language. I use the Grammarly Go Beta Premium version. Some of you use the free version of Grammarly or Pro Writing Aid. Grammarly Go Beta is considered AI-generated according to Originality AI Detector.
The other day I submitted my content, "Why Quora is a Hidden Gem for Bloggers." I wrote it said 100% AI-generated, and I wrote in my own words and used Grammarly Go Beta. Is that why?
Next, it shows that there was 2% plagiarism, and it shows the link of the words I wrote that happened to be from a writer who wrote a sentence similar to mine. This is common. Professors will see this from time to time. 2% isn't concerning
My Case Study: For Today's Post, using Grammarly Go Beta Version
This post will be tested for AI in Originality AI since that is the only AI-Generated software I use daily.
Step 1: Screenshot of what it looks like inside
Now I copied and pasted today's post to scan
I click Scan Now.
What? Now instead of 100%, it says 50-50. Do you know if it is reliable? Is the data trustworthy?
Two different articles using both Grammarly Go Beta 100 percent to now 50/50.
Let's see about plagiarism.
Interesting: No plagiarism
I wanted to remind everyone that I paid for all this. Does this mean Google will penalize me if it says 100 AI-generated or 50/50? I don't think so, but this raises the question about the reliability and validity of the data from the screenshots I took.
Concluding Final Thoughts
However, upon closer inspection using the Originality AI Detector, it was clear that the articles I write are all AI-generated because I used the Grammarly Go Beta version.
Is it worth it?
My final opinion is NO- Originality is not worth it. It wastes time and money because we look at two different results. I am either at 100 percent or 50/50 AI-generated content for using Grammarly Go Beta.
I edited it to my own words and still use Grammarly. It's been done twice. I wanted to show you this test because I think that result is CRAP!
The results are staggering because they raise the question about the accountability and transparency of my writing versus using AI-generated software like Grammarly or other AI-assisted software.
How can we trust what we read since most of this content is not authored by humans but by machines that have programmed them to mimic human language? That is exactly what Artificial intelligence does for us, and it poses some ethical concerns for me.
The next test is to hire a human content writer who is experienced in English (my grammar could be better due to English being my second language ), then run it through Originality AI and see what happens.

Great information here. I just got back from a check-up at the hospital and am feeling a bit tired but this is on my list to read thoroughly tomorrow. I might have to beg you to write an article for my new website which is all about A.I AI Tech Warriors. This would go down a treat.
Cheers
Stephen
I will find out tomorrow, all results will go to the doctor in the morning. I have an appointment at 8am.
Ah well, whatever happens I’ve had an extra 13 years that I lucked out after colon cancer. But I’m an optimist, so all news is good news. Fingers crossed though. My wife is more worried than me. Lol.

Many thanks. I think it’s easier for men because we shrug it off and don’t care the consequences.
Maybe it’s the lack of carrying another human so close.
Women are definitely the superior species when it comes to emotion and connecting.

I havent used it in a while as for my first blog I write everything myself (although using Chat GPT for certain things like catchy titles and ideas for headings and content), but for my second site I have been using a writer, so it could be interesting to test this out.
Although I really don't think that he would ever just do copy-paste from AI, as it takes him 4-5 days to write an article. If all of a sudden he takes just 2 days or his style changes completely, then I would get suspicious.
And lots of the time his articles are over 2000 to 3000 words long, AI can't do that at the moment, can it? I would notice I think :-)
Thanks a lot for the great info.. i never use Originality Al but one of my friends uses Content at scale for their research paper assignments and according to him that version also gives unpredictable results so the conclusion is we don't trust these AI detectors because of uneven outputs.
Is anybody using these types of AI tools please inform the community...appreciate
Good morning Brenda,
I hope that you are doing well. Thank you for your very detailed blog post, it's appreciated.
You have made some very interesting points in your blog post. I have always seen the downsides of AI, although I appreciate that it can be used as a tool to generate ideas etc. Just as Kyle and Jay are teaching. I still think we need to be extremely careful in how we use AI software.
Have a great day.
Roy
I am with you, big time, Brenda! I have certainly had my reservations with AI, although I'm very pleased that Kyle and Jay have helped to clear up some questions that I had!
Wealthy Affiliate is a very trustworthy site and we know that it's great that people share their genuine experience. I have seen a few people putting up AI content which I just ignore!
I believe I wrote a blog post a few months ago that AI wrote about my experience on Wealthy Affiliate or something similar. It was a very nice story, but of course, it was not my genuine experience, which is so important for the reader, whether it's my story or someone else's experience!
I can just see the Internet being flooded with very poor content and then it being difficult to sort out the good from the bad. I may be wrong.
I do appreciate your insights etc.
Have a great day.
Roy

That is an excellent report, Brenda.
It is all very confusing. This leaves me with a question: Should I use Grammarly or not?
I have been using Grammarly Premium for several years, during which time it Has checked over 3 million words for me.
I grammar-check all my work before posting. I also check for plagiarism and fix it where necessary. Sometimes, I use AI content, and sometimes, I don't. I always rephrase into my own language.
Google has never rejected any of my work because of AI content detection. I will continue to use Grammarly.
Have you used Fase for AI-generated text, and if so, what are your thoughts on the subject?
