Making Money Online Is A Scam

Something I here all the time.

"Making Money Online is A Scam!"

"People don't make money online. That's just absurd!"

9 times out of ten when you are looking to learn how to making money online, it's true, you will find a scam.

But, that doesn't mean you can't make money online. Millions of people do it all the time including myself.

The people you love most are usually the ones that discourage you. It's sad, but it's true.

Its not that they don't want you to succeed. Of course they do. Or they wouldn't even waste their breathe calling anything a scam, to you.

But, they think they know what's best for you.

Here's the sad truth about that line though.

What they think is best for you is going to school for 4 years(50k in debt with loans), getting a job working a 9-5 after, and "hopefully" you can retire early and make enough money with whatever career you decide to pursue.

Here's the problem with that logic.

Death is coming, and we all know that. It's inevitable.

Problem is, we don't know when death is coming. It could be tomorrow for all I know.

So, why do I need to work a 9-5 for the next 40 years and then retire on a 401k when I know death will probably take me sooner?

I would have gone to school and worked my entire life without actually enjoying life. Is that fair?

I don't think it is.

That's why I choose the unorthodox method of making money online.

You choose your hours, you choose how much effort you want to put in , and you can finally create the lifestyle that you dream of.

How does making money online work if it isn't actually a scam?

Obviously, if you don't want the lifestyle that I despise of then of course this would be your next question.

It's very simple actually, but let me give you an example.

I drive for Uber. I've mentioned this quite a few times in my past few blogs. The thing with Uber is they are always looking for new drivers.

One way they do this is by asking drivers to invite their friends to drive for Uber.

Uber offers me a bonus for every driver I sign-up(referral usually get a bonus too).

Uber gives me a unique code that I can text to my friend when they tell me they are interested in driving.

When I text my friend the link, all they have to do is sign-up through the link I just gave them.

Uber knows I was the one that referred them. So they know who to pay the bonus too.

This is the same idea when it comes to making money online.

Because I drive for Uber, it's one of the niches that I'm in. The code that I use to text friends is the same code I use on my website when I promote Uber.

Because I am promoting Uber, this defines me as an affiliate. I'm connected to Uber in a way and associate with their products.
This is how the term "affiliate marketing" comes about.
I'm an affiliate of Uber, marketing their products or work opportunity in my case.

Whether you are talking about weight loss or dungeons and dragons, this works the same way. If I like a product that I feel helped me lose a lot of belly fat, I might share with my friends.

If you share an affiliate link with your friends then you will get a commission for their purchase.

where do you get these affiliate links?

So, hopefully you understand how the money is made. Now the question is how do you get these links?

Just about about every business has some type of affiliate program. They are free to join. If you find ones that are not free it probably is a scam. It just doesn't make sense to pay someone to promote "their" products unless their products aren't that great.

When you join these programs they will give you the unique code for promoting them and earning a commission.

Now for the biggest question.

Where do you place these links?

The best method for promoting products is to write useful content.
You want to provide helpful and knowledgeable information on what you are promoting.

Why should I use product x?

What are the benefits of product x?

What do you like about product x?

What do you hate about product x?

When you provide useful information and teach people about your products, they will become engaged in your content. Now all you have to do is take that affiliate link I was talking about and slap it in your content.

As people are reading your "helpful" content, you can mention a product that you use in that content and place a link in those words.

Then as people are reading your content they will see your link and click on it since you recommended the product. Not everyone will click on that link and purchase the product, but the ones that do will earn you a commission.

Other ways of making money online.

There are a numerous amount of ways to make money online. In time you will discover the different methods. But a few ways someone makes money with their website is:

  • Banner ads
  • Google Adsense
  • affiliate marketing(what I just talked about)
  • sponsored content
  • taking surveys
  • etc...

Not every method is great for making money online( I hate surveys), but making money online most certainly is not a scam.

Hey Brandon,

I love your post, very easy to understand and relate to. Sometimes I am in the business so long it's hard to explain to newcomers how it works.

Making money online is one of those business models that's saturated with unbelievable hypes, so new and "magical" it is. Imagine making money without going to work! But yes, it's possible, it's not easy or automated like most others make it out to be, but there are online successes out there (Pat Flynn is at the top of my mind), and yes, those who aren't "gurus" or sell/ promote sleazy things.

Thanks for sharing. ;)

Cheers,
Anh

Awesome post! I also work for Uber as well and would have never of thought to possibly share that code online as well through my website. This post had a lot of great points as well. I'm going to have a few of my friends read it so they to can know making money online is not a scam.

Brandon,

Good read. Simply explained from your point of view. Know that the reasoning behind our loved one and their doubts of the power of online marketing is to protect us. You are right. They think they know what is best. They may know what is best for them. So remaining steadfast is important to overall success. This is the true secret to online marketing.

Thanks for the share
Sami

Great Post Brandon .. A really good read! Cheers, William.

Excellent post and especially you just never know when your number is up!!!

Awesome comparison with Uber, I didn't know they offer this commission.
Very inspiring post

thank you

Have to be a driver to get a commission, but they pay like a "high ticket affiliate"
Though, I was only using them as comparison.
Thanks for the comment
