Scientific Benefits Of Meditating


The definition of meditating is comtemplation, thought, pondering, the act of reflection or concertrating.

Types Of Meditation

Mindfulness Meditation

Mindfulness meditation encourages the observation of wandering thoughts as the practioner drift through the mind. Mindfulness meditation allows the involvement of thoughts without judging them.Through mindfulness meditation, you can see how your thoughts and feelings tend to move in particular patterns.

Meditating is way to have control over my life. It gives me a sense of fullfilment. For many it may be a way of taking care of the soul and inner most being. Others use it as a time of reflection, self awareness, etc. For me it is a therapeutic process.

Concentration Meditation

With this type of meditation your mind focuses on a single point. Be it a mantra or affirmations. It is essential to let go all distractions. This meditation process aids in the ability to concentrate.

When stressed, feeling overwhelmed, or going through an emotional state I prefer to lay down on a flat surface such as a bed or the living room floor. I play quiet spa or classical music to help put my mind at ease. With my eyes closed I focus on my breathing making no effort to change it. Pay attention to my body and how it moves with each inhalation and exhalation. I then drift into sleepy state.

As a beginner I practice this at least twice a day, morning and night. 10-15 minute set times. Times increase the more I practice.
