What is Street Articles? What are Backlinks? What are the Benefits? – Here are the Answers

I know many of you here at Wealthy Affiliate have asked the question, what is Street Articles? Then once you find out some of you will ask, what are the benefits? Again once you find out that answer you normally may ask, what are backlinks?

GOOGLE HAS CHANGED HOW THEY RANK YOUR WEBSITE & BLOG

Because Google has changed the rules in how they will rank your websites and blogs, many of the techniques that people would use Article Directories like Street Articles (SA) for, has changed as well. So I am creating this blog post to educate you all, especially those who are going through Level 3 and 4 training of the Certification Course.

Not long ago there was training on the use of SA in the Level 2 training but when it was recently updated that training was removed because there was just no benefit to writing a lot of articles and using backlinks anymore. So because of this the SA training was removed from Level 2 training.

For the members here at Wealthy Affiliate, in a nutshell SA is used to drive traffic back to your websites via the backlinks you get for writing articles that are more than 400 words long. The more you write over 400 words, the more backlinks you get. You then use these backlinks to drive traffic to your website.

WHAT DO I WRITE ON STREET ARTICLES?

You can write anything but for the purpose of why it’s mentioned in your training from time to time in the task boxes at the end of lessons, you want to use SA to help boost your website’s traffic. To do this you need to write an article that is relevant to your website BUT it cannot be the same content that is on the webpage or blog post that you will be linking to. The SA content needs to be unique but still relevant otherwise it could be considered duplicate content and that is a big No-No!.

WHAT’S A BACKLINK AND HOW DO I USE IT?

When you write a SA of at least 400 words you are granted 1 backlink. I don’t remember the exact amounts but I do know from personal experience that if your article is at least 1000 words you will be granted 3 backlinks.

You create backlinks the same way you create links within your websites, by highlighting a word or group of words and clicking the link button and so on. However when you create a backlink in SA it cannot be more than 5 words long and they need to appear in the bottom third of the article.

What you want to do is link a relevant word or words back to a relevant page or post on your website. This will help give your webpage or blog post more traffic. The more traffic you get the better. That is the real benefit of writing a SA other than also honing your writing skills.

***IMPORTANT UPDATE***

YOU DO NOT WANT TO WRITE MORE THAN 2 Street Articles, there is no benefit to it anymore. Just concentrate on building out your content on your websites.This is why Kyle & Carson have been stressing that “99% of the content you write should go on your website.”

So it is very important not to write more than 2 SA for your website. If you will be, or are going through Level 3 and 4 training of the Certification Course, when you are checking off the task boxes at the end of a lesson and you have already written 2 SAs, just check off the box for writing a SA and move on.
