Keyword and key-phrase question

So... keywords have always been something that confuses me and I've always been better at just writing off a title I come up with.

However, I am better since I've joined WA and have been writing articles based on keywords each time.

That being said, in the training, we learn that the keyword must make sense.

For example: how to "blank" to get "blank"

Above I would then come up with an article which could be titled: facts about "my niche": how to "blank" to get "blank" so that the keyword makes sense and is all together, as in, exactly that keyword itself.

Here's my question...

Does it hinder search results by using the phrase in the title if the words aren't exactly all together?

For example: how to "blank" to get "blank" with a title would be: Getting to "blank" requires "blank" and here's how you can do it

Hope I didn't make this too complicated. Am still soaking up all the info I can here and love to learn new things so I can keep improving my site.

I’ve tried this. As a writer I kind of hate keywords as titles. I have not been successfully ranking, though, so I’m switching to just using the darn keywords.

A really question, thanks for asking.

Great question B!
I asked this question 2 months ago, and got some great responses.
I think this will help you:)

I do a keyword search on exactly how the words will be in the title, sometimes it will show different results to the original layout of the words, but sometimes it doesn't.

So I'd say the keyword with the exact structure of the words is what you want to do your search on. You can get ranked for other combinations of words, but they do seem to be together.

So my keyword might be "affiliate marketing playbook" - that's what I try to rank for, but I might also bet ranked for "marketing playbook".

Hope that makes sense and I haven't confused the situation more!
