Wealthy Affiliate Tells New Members "Upgrade or Forget About It"
That's all I saw and heard from the first minute I joined. "Upgrade!" "Upgrade"! "Upgrade!". On the sales page, it was a whole different story..."oh you're gonna get free marketing tools and training..you're gonna join a group of skilled entrepreneurs who can help you grow". "You can make 50% commissions on selling WA!" Well I felt totally pressured right away. Then, to top it off, as I'm responding to my first welcome message, a notice pops up saying "you only have 7 days to ask questions". What?...Are you kidding me! 7 days!

You can stay as a free member as long as you want, but the communication right is initially up to 7 days.
This is the period when you can ask questions, blog or participate in the LiveChat.
When your communication right is expired, you can still finish the level one training and work on your website and you still have the potential to earn commissions through your affiliate links.

Belden is right. I see members here doing great with a free site rubix website. I even downloaded and purchased from a WA member digital products, to my shock that the download page is actually hosted in a free site rubix site. So, what does that mean? Some free members here are actually making money doing their own businesses.
With regard to the upgrade messages? They're normal and part of the process. Imagine if there are no messages like that here, then probably few and few members will be upgrading. As for the worthiness of upgrading, I can tell it's worth the money. Here in the Philippines, a $49 membership payment is quite big and can feed a family for a week. But we're making sacrifices, because, we know this is business. If I have to pay for monthly rent of a small shop space in the downtown area, I may have paid more than that. So, the upgrade payment for me is well justified. Not just justified but more than worth it.
OK Belden, that is good advice. I'm going to go through the training with an open mind. I've seen some income reports and received some good tips from RitaAnn as well. Thanks!

You took the first step, then why don't you continue the journey towards success? This is the only field wherein people with or without money can start a business.
I am running a couple of offline businesses, and it costs thousands of dollars to start and the ROI took years to achieve.

Thank you CoachGom, I agree that Belden is right. I may have judged too soon. The monthly fee is impossible for me because I'm left with only $28 after I support a household of 4 each week. However if there is a chance to make some extra money here, I'll take a closer look and go thought the training before I decide. I'll miss your guidance.

When you signed up, maybe you didn't see the difference between a free Starter membership and the Premium membership but there are GREAT differences. The benefits of the Premium membership grossly outweighs the cost because not only you get full access to the rest of the training (Levels 2-5), you get one of the best hosting services that also includes features that would cost extra on other hosting plans, and the support of the community and the owners.
I'm not sure who's pressuring you to upgrade but you can upgrade on your own time, it's just that if you do it while you have banners flashing at you, you get a great discount for your first month but if you don't want to, you don't have to and stay free as long as you want.
