Mega-Batching
All of us have many things going on at the same time so are we really multi-tasking? To me multi-tasking is working on a lot of stuff and getting a little bit done. When I mega-batch I concentrate on one thing and get a lot done.
-->Let me explain<--
Mega-batching is the process of breaking a project down into smaller steps and grouping related steps into groups so they can all be worked on at one time and usually completed within an hour or two.
Suppose I am working on a weekly pod-cast or video show, here is the breakdown.
I. Brainstorming session where we discuss subjects for the show.
II. Outlining session where we flesh out each subject and decide what should be included in each show. This is all the pre-production stuff that must be done to make the show work.
III. Production - recording a group of shows. Six shows is usually a doable number and getting them all done at once saves a lot of time in the long run.
IV Post production - This is all the promotional activities like sharing on social media, writing up the show notes
V. DeBriefing is a review session where we discuss what went well and what could have been done better. This is feedback from the teams perspective. It gives us an opportunity to make adjustments before a little problem becomes big.
This process works whether you are working as a solopreneur or working with a team. If you are working solo, I recommend creating a mastermind team where you have a half dozen people with varying skills who all share the same goal.
In a way, WA is a large mastermind group where we all come together to share ideas and get help. In a business context, a mastermind group is usually limited to 4-6 people who work as independent freelancers but work together to better serve the needs of their clients.
When forming a mastermind group identify the skills your clients need. If you are a web-developer it is probable that you will need a graphics designer or a photoshop expert. Bring the people with the expertise you need into your mastermind group.

Thanks. This is a good way to look at a massive project. I used to just call it working in chunks.
Hi Bill. Yes, I like to think of WA as a HUGE mastermind group. This is a great post and gives me a few new ideas. Thanks! :)
Thank you for another interesting and quite useful blogs. This is the technique I learned when I was in television production many years ago. It works if you work it!
Have a great weekend Bill!
