Wealthy Affiliate Triple Crown
Before anyone gets upset that they didn't have a shot at the title - there is no officially sanctioned triple crown category here at WA. It's more of a fun way to self motivate, create a little solo competition as it were. However, if there were such a category for newbs this is the criteria I'd use.
Build A Following
My first category for the Wealthy Affiliate Triple Crown is a following. My official number is 500 of which I'm about 68 short. The reason I picked this number is for the Daytona 500. It's a nice round number, certainly not any type of record at WA (kyle is over 19,000) but it's an indication of the amount of time I've been dedicating to being in and around the environment.
Make Your First $$$
Category number two is the elusive 'First Sale". I've yet to attain that statistic as well. I have the feeling that I'm not far off. I have good quality content and a good % of new visitors at my sites but not a huge amount of traffic which is my next target. I've dedicated a plan of action for article writing to get my backlinking and my name brand recognition. My initial goal was not 'about the money' but more about trying to learn this business and get established. The first sale benchmark is more about achieving success in learning what it takes to make money rather than the actual dollar amount.
Get First Page Google Rankings
And last but not least, the third category in the Wealthy Affiliate Triple Crown is a first page Google ranking. This also is a benchmark in the training process here at WA. Achieving that result proves two things; first that the training is definitely here to reach your objective; and second that I successfully followed the training. My first page results were both on the same day!
Anyone Can Do It
I'm proud of my accomplishments but when I reach my Wealthy Affiliiate Triple Crown, I'll have to set new goals to keep me motivated. Everyone has a different strategy of how to achieve their goals but the point is to have a plan, follow it, and make it fun and attainable.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

hey shawn - when i see the volume of work you've produced it gives me ideas of what my next benchmarks might be - on second thought it might wear the fingerprints off my fingers - thanks for the comment
no doubt - we're off to see the wizard - thanks for stopping by - hope IM is working well for you
Hi Steve
Thanks for sharing. A sensible strategy and sound advice. I have no doubt that you're going to reach your Wealthy Affiliate Triple Crown
Beverley
thanks bev - i'm also curious what other people have for their goals - not just newbs but ex IMer's that have raised the bar
Hi Steve
I'm an NLP Practitioner and this discipline informs my approach to goal setting. So I have detailed long term goals (3 year cycles) and then every day I aim to do something towards achieving those goals.
On a day to day basis I always do something towards my goals and I keep track of my progress.
To keep focused - I have one never ending to do list which I continually add to and 1 daily to do list - that never has more than three things at a time on it. I don't think of short and medium term goals like you do.
But if a push came to a shove - my current triple crown would be
1. To complete my writing website and sell my first 10 courses
2. Complete writing and publish my first kindle book
3. Finish the set up for my coaching VLE (Virtual Learning Environment) to run my 'Return to Work' coaching programs.
Hope that satisfies your curiosity.
Beverley
(PS - Remember I hate being called Bev!)
i should know that because my daughter's name is victoria and i hate it when people call her vikki - my bad beverley - i'm curious to see how people motivate themselves through teir goalsetting priorities - i agree that whether it's short or long term people fare much better when they institute a plan of action rather than just 'wing it' - when i started with wa i was so lost in the IM world and the techno aspect that my only goal was to try and get comfortable with what i was doing - now that i've reached that stage i find the 'small strokes felled great oaks' approach works better for me because it delivers the gratification of attainment more often than the 'Mt. Everest' approach - either way i appreciate your input and my apologies for the nickname
I concentrate purely on #3 first page rankings.
Another thing you can do is Testing and Tracking, because once steady sales start rolling in you will need to know how to create more sales.

Not too bad at the moment, still have another appointment at the hospital on the 23rd November.
Congratulations - I am much in the same scenario as yourself. Let's both keep persevering, we will get there in the end,
Regards
Hudson
