Quit Target

Hello WA:

I don't know if you guys know, I quit Target back in January. Last year we have a manager that became the front manager. He had it in for me since he came to the store. My store manager told me about him when he first came to the store. The conversation went a little like this. My store manager's name is Andy and she's a woman. I don't know if she spells it with an "i" or a "y". If she was still there I probably never have quit Target. She's a good upbeat type of manager. She makes me want to come into work. Here's the conversation:

Andy: Roger, I would like to speak to you.

Roger: Am I in trouble or something?

Andy: No, Roger, I just want to ask you some questions about one of the new managers.

Roger: Okay.

Andy: What do you think about Monday?

Roger: But today is Wednesday.

Andy: Monday is one of our new managers in our store.

Roger: OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOh, you call by his lastname?

Andy: No that's his first name.

Roger: How does spell it, M U N D A Y?

Andy: No M O N D A Y.

Roger: Like the day of the week.

Andy: Yep.

The first time I spoke to him is when he took back to his office and told me I was late coming back from my break. That day the reason why I was late getting because I had to do a punch correction because I forgot to clock in or out couple days earlier. Then when I came to the floor, I had to use the facilities. I was looking for the manager in charge to tell her that, but I could not find her so I told one of the cashiers that I did a punch correction and I had to use the bathroom. He was going to dock my time. I was like heck no. For now on when I do a punch correction, I tell the manager to communicate with the front that I'm doing the punch correction so I'm not being accused of being late.

The next impression of Monday was when I was waiting on this customer he interupted me while I was waiting on her. She had the redcard and her cartwheel ready for me to scan. This woman is a very attractive woman. She is hot. He said if you have any problems you talk to me I'm the manager and my name is Monday. I thought that was rude.

Last year, Monday tranferred to be the frontlanes manager. I was like, I'm going to get lots of corrective actions. Got lots of them last year. As lots of you know, my leg started to hurt me real bad. I had to go to the hospital at the end of September. He was complaining about my speed on the register. I'm standing on my sore leg. I went work that Friday night. Saturday morning I went to the hospital. I spent 7 days in the hospital. Then I was off for 3 months due to my foot. I have an ulcer on my big right toe which I've been treating since that day. Now there is an ulcer growing on the second toe and the big toe is getting better.

January 5, 2018, I went into Target to talk to the manager. He told me to comeback Monday. The store manager said that there is no hours for me. I did not work for 2 weeks. My first day back to work, Monday took me back for corrective action. I was like I had problem with my leg. I was out for 3 months so I am not faking it. He was talking about me not smiling. I was not happy in the month of September at Target. I was very angry at Target in September because of what happened on Labor Day. Maybe I'll tell you on my next blog if I get the chance. You all would get mad at Target for that one. My friend in New York was very upset.

I went back to the doctor on January 15th. The ulcer came back. Then I decided that I need to let Target go after almost 15 years. I just went in and gave them my name badge and my discount card.

I told people that I quit due to my health, so things don't get controversial. But the real reason why I quit is because I got sick and tired of being treated like trash. I'm a human being not a robot. They raised me up to $11 hour. I found out that they are going start everyone at $11 hour. After 15 years I'm going to get the same pay as shot nosed teenagers who just started. The next time I get a corrective action, I'll probably will get fired because I'm going to curse the manager out. I don't want waist my breath. A real close friend of mine passed away on New Years day. He was like a father to me. Every year I go up to the banquet for Cedar Ridge. My friend Bill alway take me up and Dave, the one that passed away alway brings me back home. They go out of their way to pick me up. They like in a town called Williamsport, MD which is about 30 mile west of where I live in Frederick, MD. When they pick me up or drop me off, they say that they're proud of me more times than Target in a whole year. I think that's ashame.

Target is a company that don't care if you get to the top or not. If you want to get to the top for the Target company, you better pucker your like and start kissing some serious butt. That is something that I just don't do. I don't even know how to do that. In this business if you want to get somewhere, you have to work hard and hasve consistancy. That is my problem is the consistancy. That is going to change. Like today I at least wrote a blog.
