Please Stop Wasting Your Time in WA...!

I have been a member of WA for months now and I have had problems getting my time management skills just right beause I am extremely busy. But I think I now have it down pat.

In the morning I get up half an hour earlier than usual and I read through all the new questions I receive on email. If I can answer it I do, if I cannot and I don't need to know the answer at this point, I just delete it. If I think it will come in useful in the future I tag it as important in my emails and go back to it when I need to know about it

I now take a lunch break at work (not usually heard of), I log into my email account and follow some members posting useful information and questions, and follow back those who I wish to follow.

Then at night, when all the chores at home are finished, dinner is over and lunches for the next day are taken care of, I log into my training. Unfortunately at this point in time it is usually late and I cannot write blog posts - I'm too worn out!

Then on weekends, around children's sports and hobbies and housework, I savour the few hours I have to write my website posts and pages, as I'm usually feeling much more relaxed and able to do so - visitor's permitting. I am writing them all in draft mode and I am going to schedule them to publish after I have 10 or more "up my sleeve" which I have proof-read giving me a head start, so I can continue writing 3 - 4 a week.

This seems to be working for me. I hope it helps you to consider how you can fit these tasks into your daily schedule.

In all honesty, I wish I had all the time in the world to dedicate to my business, but I have to live in reality and do the best I can.....

Cheers

Berny

Us ladies are great at time management - we always find the time

Yay Berny, Good for you. Funnily enough this last weekend I also came to the conclusion that I needed to stop wasting my time and do something about it. I have set a few goals and may blog it soon...(if I get time :-) )
Meanwhile, onwards and upwards.
Cheers.

Hi Simon - hope you are well. I am going to try my time management plan for a few weeks then set my goals around it. I'd like to do it the other way round, but there is only 24 hours in a day and I need to be realistic yet optimistic.

Cheers
Berny

We are in the same boat Berny, if that helps at all. I know the feeling of coming home from work and feeling tired.
All that keeps me going is that I know I will make it in the end.
Garth

Thanks for sharing Berny. It is useful for me.

I know what you mean, life can get in the way sometimes. I try to block certain times in the morning and afternoon, then later in the evening after things are taken of. Everybody has to find what time works best for them.

Too true - you have to fit your business in around your life! And get some rest and recreation too! (Says she? what's recreation) - I guess for me it's WA but that is what I choose to do in what downtime I have left - and I enjoy it!)

Thank you for your comments - my life may appear like clockwork - but that's okay because that is how I work best! Put a process in place, shine it up, standardize it and sustain it. Works well with everything - the shed, the garage, the linen press, the kitchen cupboards - and of course now WA! I've been fortunate enough that my son has followed in my footsteps and is extremely organized - takes care of his own room, organizes himself for all his hobbies - karate, horse riding, bull riding, motor cross racing and Country Fire Service Cadets without me saying a thing. He's ready, waiting and organized by the time we get home from work. I guess it not what you say - but what you show. (Sometimes he's even dusted and vacuumed the house for me too - sometimes I said!) He's 15 - I can't complain.)

At least you're doing it. Daily tasks do get in the way though. Even when you think you'll have all the time in the world, life still has a way of catching up with you. Hang in there. Debbi

I hear you Bernie. Still got to keep the wheels going round.
My vision is to have my online business keep the wheels turning.

Well said and stated. We all need to remember there is a real life outside of WA that must also be tended too.
This is regardless of how much we tend to enjoy being here.
A balanced lifestyle will bring about a balanced life.
Take care and be well.
Andre

This is great organizational skills and truly showing us the example of focusing. Packing your lunch, getting up an hour earlier-you are an inspiration to me. I'm impressed. Keep up the good work.
