A Lesson Learned Today

Someone reaches out to me asking to purchase my drone that I have for sale on Facebook Marketplace. And they definitely lowball me. I respond with a no thank you and point him to others that have it for sale less than my asking. He apparently needed one for a wedding he needed to do tomorrow.

Well today is tomorrow and he asks me if he can rent out my batteries and charger. I'd love to, however, I don't know who this person is. So I respond that I saw another ad with a guy selling multiple batteries, maybe you could ask him.

He responds that he has one battery and that should be good enough, he just needs a charger.

At this point, I'm thinking to myself that this guy is gonna learn a lesson today.

First of all, if you are delivering a service to a customer, then you must ensure that you have what you need to deliver on the promise.

I don't know what this guys story is and I really wanted to help him but in a way, I think this in itself is a valuable lesson. What would you have done?

*Whenever something like this happens, when I could help someone but didn't, it reminds me of what happened between Spiderman's actions and Uncle Ben (IYKYK)

I agree with the way you handled it, Robert.

Have a great day!

I appreciate that Tim!

It is really hard these days to know if you should help someone. I saw someone pulled over to the side of the road once. Their hood on the car was up and I thought, "Well, the best I can probably do is call the police."

The police dispatcher asked me why I didn't stop to help them!?

I informed the police that I was a woman on my own who knew nothing about cars. I felt stupid for not stopping to help. But you never know what someone's intentions are.

I think you offered the best help that you could in this situation and you are correct: with hope, they learned a lesson to be prepared when you say you are going to do something.

I would have done the same Karin. I think it's ok to listen to our gut and common sense. It keeps us safe from dangers and that's why we are here today. We have to think about our own survival and not let someone's judgement of our own actions jeopardize that.

It doesn’t sound like something I’d get involved with. Too many unknowns! 😎

Yessir! I always play out how something could go before meeting someone 🤣

👍👍😎

Maybe they were onto something else; sometimes, you need to read between the lines... Of course, I wouldn't know what that thing would be.

Abie

Totally agree, I can't read minds 😊

I can see the future, but I am still working out how I can act on it.
