Thank you all. I learned just what I needed to!

You can add your own description on your All in one plugin and click update

Google takes the first 160 characters of the top of your article and displays it as "post description". You can manually enter text of your liking.

When you are in edit mode with apost or page, scroll down to the SEO section until you see the field Meta Description

Enter your description and Save (important), scroll all the way up to save, or if post was published already, hit Update.

John

Sometimes Google chooses funny snippets for you based on what people search for. If you haven't already, you can put a description into your All in One SEO pack settings.

All in One SEO > General Settings > Home Description

I'm not exactly sure about what you want to change because it looks fine to me. If you're wanting to change the description because it trails off with the "...", then all you have to do is change the description of your post or page.

How can I change the way my site appears in google?

What are some reasons for sudden drops in Google ranking?

If theme working, don't change it.

Nathaniell has answered the "Google dance! question. For the bounce rate, mine shot up to over 70% with Russian visitors bouncing in and out. I set up a filter in Google Analytics:

If you want to permanently remove traffic from a specific country you can set up a Custom Filter to exclude it. This can be done via the 'Analytics Settings > Profile Settings > Create New Filter' screen. You need to choose the 'Custom Filter' radio button, leave the 'Exclude' setting as it is then select a 'Filter Field' of 'Visitor Country'. Finally enter the country to remove in the 'Filter Pattern' field.

My bounce rate has started to come back down after I blocked Russia completely. :)

It's quite common to go up and down in rankings over time, especially with a new site. People call it the "google dance". If your content is good, just go about your business. Some things you can do in the meantime are

Add some internal links back to the post
Update some of the content within the post (add, update)
Add some more media (pictures, video)
Do some more social shares (in case people missed it before)
Ask for comments on social media or within WA

Thanks for the reassurance there. Good to know it's normal. Any advice about the bounce rate?

Do you think that it may be spam. Check this out How to block Referral Spam and Countries within Google Analytics. or was this the training you that you did.

Yeah, that was the training. i do think it's spam. I just couldn't figure out where to find what to block.

Did you go to live chat?

Never done that before. Will try that. Thanks.

A company I wanted to promote is insisting I put a page titled "Advertising Disclosure" on a header menu of my site. They already accepted me as an affiliate but they are not gu

Thanks for asking the question that has been on my mind as well. I have noticed that some sites have it and some don't. I appreciate reading the answers by all. What a great community!

I have a Consumer Notice page that states: My blog posts may contain affiliate links. If you click on one of the links and you buy something from them I may get paid an affiliate commission. This is how I make my living and if you do purchase from a link on my site, I want to Thank You now. I have all the legals linked in the footer of my sites.
For the http://Mini-Masseuse.com site I have a medical disclaimer also, on the http://crappiemasterjigs.com site because the fishing jig heads contain lead I have the California Hazardous material warning saying WARNING: This product contains lead or other chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm. Keep out of reach of small children. Can be harmful or fatal if swallowed. and I have also included a privacy notice at the buy now button that says “Privacy Notice”
We do not share your information with anybody. All customer’s purchase information is Secured By Paypal Checkout.Paypal Account Not Necessary. Regardless of how the site looks I feel it some what protects the marketer and it also gives the customer a feeling that you are legit.

Sounds like you really have all bases covered.

Even if your affiliate company doesn't require it, the FTC guidelines say you may be liable if you are promoting products. I have found a great Wordpress plugin that will allow you to select a disclosure statement for your pages and posts https://wordpress.org/plugins/disclosure-picker/. It may be inconvenient but it doesn't really take away from you post/page. AND it is always better to be safe than sorry. If you have any questions or need any help just hit me up. I'll be glad to help however I can

Thanks.

I put the Affiliate Disclosure under 'About Me' in a header menu. It's not painfully obvious but it's there. It's just a matter of being honest with your readers, most of whom will understand that you need to have some income from your website to enable them to get the free content. There's no such thing as a 'free lunch'. ~Marion

Good idea. Thanks.

???????????????

Affiliate disclosure is a statement telling your readers that you earn money off your affiliate links,

Thanks.

If they are requiring you have it to get paid, then you need it up there! Amazon requires one too, but not in the header. Some companies just want them so they cover their own butts.

The FTC recommends you have one, but they don't actually regulate it. It's not a "law" as far as I know.

If this is the only program that requires it in the header, then maybe it just isn't worth it for me to promote their program. But, if other companies will also require it I may as well get it done now.
I just don't recall seeing it on most other blogs from Wealthy Affiliate members?

Yes, as far as I know it's not a "requirement" though it is recommended by the FTC. Some people have it that want to be safe, others dont'. I have one, but it's in my footer.
