Wealthy Affiliate: Standard or Bootcamp Training?

Are you hoping to start your own online business in affiliate marketing but are struggling with identifying a niche? I went through this myself when I first joined Wealthy Affiliate. I was uncertain about which niche to target.

As recommended, I started by breaking down my hobbies and interests and thinking about which would lend itself best to an online business. By creating a business around a subject matter that interests you, you have a good chance of becoming an expert on the topic and potentially really enjoying it from a new perspective.

I have a few hobbies that I love and when considering which to pursue as an online business, I went into "analysis paralysis". If I followed WA's standard training program, I would have to select a niche and invest many hours into building my business as an affiliate marketer. I became concerned that if I made the wrong choice, I will have invested a few hundred hours only to regret my choice at the end.

On the other hand, if I selected WA's Bootcamp Training program, my focus would be on marketing WA itself. I reasoned that if I took the Bootcamp lessons I would follow the direction of the program and build a website around selling WA. As a beginner, I felt I needed direction more than anything else! So I took the plunge and went for Bootcamp. Whether I took the WA Standard Training or the WA Bootcamp training, I would emerge with lots of new skills on building a website.

The moral of the story is that no matter which program you decide to follow, you will have doubts along the way. The important thing in building an online business is to take action. Many folks never end up with their online business because they fail to follow-through on anything.

So, if you are hesitating, go with your gut and DO something. MAKE a decision. Whether you follow the WA Standard Training Program or the WA Bootcamp Training Program you will end up with a website that has the potential to start earning you some income!!! You have to take risks to get ahead, so take the plunge and don't look back.

Good luck and best wishes for success!

This is very good advice. The most important thing to remember during any of this training is to never give up no matter how long it takes you.

Thanks Pinns.

Hi Beanca, Well done on presenting a nice clean blog. I have some comments and suggestions to make. I have put them in a Word file which I can send to you but I need your email address to do so.

Hello Ian, you are the best! Thank you for taking the time to give me comments and suggestions. You can send the Word file directly to my email: lucrativehome@gmail.com

Hello Ian, I received your feedback and it is excellent. I don't know how to re-position the photo of the girl sitting on the floor. All I seem to be able to do is change the size of the photo. Would you know how to align it to the far right? I know how to do this in WordPress; but in a blog, there are less options for editing. Thank you for your generous feedback, Beanca

Hi Beanca. I'll look at the roblem and get back to you.

Ok, thank you Ian

Hiya Beanca,

Good advice indeed - make a choice!

I have personally found that I am learning so much by covering both, having done WA Standard first! Bootcamp for me now and all going well! This to me seems like the logical route.

Elinor :-)

Hello Elinor, I am following all the Bootcamp steps, but I have not yet made a sale. I am about 50% through the program (about 10 weeks since I started). Is this still ok? Thank you for posting a comment on my site. Beanca

Great advise. DO SOMETHING! Thanks.

G'day Beanca. I certainly agree with you on just DO something, after all that's why everyone has joined WA in the first place.

I agree with Chris on doing both as there are slight variations in the training and there is an opportunity to utilize the great name WA has to generate an income although I wouldn't say it is necessary.

Just like you I got the ole paralysis by analysis so decided on the bootcamp to start just so I could get started and at least begin my learning process. I wouldn't suggest doing both at the same time for a beginner though. Perhaps spend a couple months on the first site and get to grips with a bit of the process then get the next going.

Useful post. All the best.

Hello Scubajoe, I plan on finishing Bootcamp and then doing the Standard program. One can only gain from getting more knowledge and I like the idea of building 2 websites. I will have surpassed my own expectations for Year 1. Thank you for participating in the discussion. Best wishes for your success, Beanca

The thrust of this is DO SOMETHING. And that's absolutely the central issue, and absolutely the reason most people fail.

Whether you choose "Standard" or "Bootcamp" or "Both" is neither here nor there.

I did both, and I would recommend to anybody that doing both makes complete sense. Seeing how Bootcamp sets about promoting the WA niche is a massive lesson in how to set about promoting your own niche. And to skip it is to walk away from a goldmine.

Whichever, the core point is STOP FAFFING!

I learned a new word today Chris..."Faffing"!!! I am also going to do both programs and couldn't agree more about your comment on walking away from a goldmine. Beanca

Both are necessary.

Agreed!!!

I think it make no harm for going any stream; after all you learn. Just go ahead.

You are correct! Thank you for your comment! Beanca
