Jaaxy Upgrade
I went ahead and upgraded my Jaaxy account to Pro this weekend :) I struggle with the whole keyword thing and with my upgrade I'm hoping for a better understanding as well as help. So far so good - I really like the brainstorm option. For someone that gets stuck with keywords, I highly recommend using Jaaxy to your advantage with an upgrade.
I took a couple of days off for my birthday but I came back today and added a few posts to both websites. I'm slowing down, but still determined.
Take a look at both and as always, feedback is appreciated.

A nice start on both.
Good Layout, good images.
freshstayfit could use a bit larger font.
And a pessimist's journey could use some Excerpts. WP Edit Plugin Setup Tutorial Adding Excerpts to your Blog Post
Lifesaver ! I've just installed the WP Edit Plugin and plan to take care of my font tomorrow as it's been brought up before.
I'll check out your video again tomorrow when I plan on making my updates.
Thanks again !

Hi Brittany,
I use Jaaxy Pro too and it has really helped me.
Keywords can be a bit tricky, what worked for me was to think about the many different phrases people might use when looking for the product my website was promoting and then write them down.
Once a had made a list of phrases I could check them out with Jaaxy to see if there was much competition and what the traffic stats was.
The higher the traffic and lower the competition the better.
Your websites are looking good at the moment and the more content you can create the better.
This process really does work and there are many people who are now travelling and earning a living from their sites while they see the World.
If that's something you want to do too, you definitely can!
Best wishes

That's what I've begun to do since my upgrade - especially with help from the brainstorm lists.
My problem is starting with the keyword, then building content around that. I wonder if I could work backwards with that process?
I think that you can work backwards.
One of the most important things to remember when creating content is that you are trying to help people. That is what Google really rewards in the search rankings. So the better your content is in helping people to eat healthier, the better it will rank naturally.
If you produce content, without specifically targeting a keyword, your post/page will still have a good chance of ranking for a relevant keyword phrase, as you will likely be using some phrases within your writing that people would use to search for healthy eating advice.
Very often, we may try and target a key phrase within a post and actually find that that post ranks well/better for other phrases that we didn't originally intend to rank for!
The idea is to produce lots of helpful pages that will rank for lots of phrases and through those phrases the traffic will come.
Hope that makes sense!
John
It makes complete sense! I've been more focused on the content versus the keywords so far just because I was having so much trouble with coming up with them.
Now that I have more help I should be able to get both aspects to work for me - hopefully :)
Have you set up Google Webmaster tools yet? Setting Up & Verifying Google Webmaster Tools It's a free service and it gives you information about what phrases people used to find your pages on the web.
I have it on my niche site actually (honestly I forgot about that) but not my WA site
If you login into your Webmaster tools, the menu option "search traffic" and then "search analytics" will show you the phrases that people typed into Google when Google listed your site in the search results.
What I have found helpful is that the list of search phrases shown often included phrases I hadn't specifically targeted, so I used that as a source of new keyword ideas
I'll have to remember to do that. I've got myself a nice little "To-Do List" going for tomorrow - it's much too late to focus and get too in depth with anything so all these helpful tips will keep me busy and moving forward for sure :)
Good luck with everything - if you need any help just shout!
I will, thanks a bunch John.
