Level 2 Completion. the story so far
Previously Distracted
Previously I had been struggling with setting up my website and was really disappointed that I was not better at it ! I was all over the place in lockdown. I was trying to be disciplined and set tasks with timescales but sadly, at this I was failing miserably. It's so easy for me to get distracted by Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest and countless other things popping up on my screen ! I'm locked down just like most, but why am I the only person that seems to get no time to do anything? I'm literally ignoring zoom chats with family and friends, declining challenges from friends, most of which originate from Olly Murs. (I did do the handstand against the wall and put your t-shirt on challenge!) I'm getting up at 4/am each day just to cram in a couple of hours before the kids and Mrs wake up and need everything, Tea, breakfast, schooling, recycling, laundry, 6 page job list, gardening etc. Some of my friends are moaning that they have watched everything on Netflix and are bored, how very dare they!
Should have been better at this from the start
Having grown up as a 70’s kid I had the first computer, the ZX Sinclair, I then progressed through the new computers as I grew older, BBC micro, ZX spectrum, Atari, Commodore 64 then countless PC’s. I’m an Apple junkie now! As a kid, I used to spend days copying programs out of computing magazines to make a man walk across the black and white screen or make a perfect circle.
The day I Lost my way
I lost my way, and can remember the exact day this happened. My friend James Easter wanted me to do some programming with him. His bedroom was literally like the inside of a spaceship, wires and bits of computer everywhere. I sat there in the chaos whilst James frantically typed out this 24 page program, I was distracted by a sound coming from his little sisters room. I went to see. 0n a small black and White TV, with a big round Ariel coming out the back of it, she was controlling a little white triangle and shooting big white blobs which then broke up into smaller blobs. She let me play and I was instantly addicted. After months of manipulating my sisters into wanting one, they didn't, my step father got the console for them and that’s where my path changed and lost interest in programming, but, I got so good at Asteroids on the Atari console that I could get my score past the 9999 back to 0 but still be at the hardest difficulty level (I remember being annoyed there being no congratulations message, no fanfare, nothing)., despite this, I spent the rest of my free time playing computer games, not really achieving much, which contributed heavily in getting kicked out of home at the age of 15. (Well that and the fact I threw my bedroom carpet out the 2nd floor window and painted my room dark grey without my step fathers permission)
Working from home ...1st attempt
In my 20’s, after years of struggling trying to pay rent, attend college and complete full-time work at McDonalds, I dipped into working from home on the pc, using my AOL dial-up, and lots of uneducated hard work, I was actually getting a residual income from Clubshop dot com and got cheques in the post each month. I believe I was running phishing programs and harvesting email addresses that meant I could then send a structured mail system to hundreds of people at a time, leading them to take the same route as I had done. I was really enjoying being part of the business that had no physical products other than digital fares but felt that traveling around the world was a top priority so quit the business. Distracted again!
2nd Attempt..Wealthy Affiliate
So here I am, 25 years on, grey haired, traveled around the world, had many jobs, settled with a family of my own and am happy, very happy, but it's clear to see from this post that I am inherently, a highly distractable person with no will power and low organisational skills, possible ADHD and an addictive personality. Whereas this skill set makes me perfect for my real life management role (LOL) it has not been helpful in trying to create on online business. My issues were mostly between creating my website and completing learning. I had never attempted a website and I thought plugins were something to make your house smell nice, I had no content for my site but the training modules pushed for site ranking, to have posts with keywords, SEO etc. I was stressed that I couldn't complete the training until I'd got the website going but I pushed through each morning with my two free hours.
SUCCESS
I am therefore ultimately surprised and proud that I have achieved my goals thanks to Wealthy Affiliate I now have the start of a potentially outstanding (in my opinion) website. The training is so structured with easy to complete modules, it means I can break everything down into bite size chunks of learning and fit them into my lockdown chaos. To be honest I've done quite a few of the modules twice due to being behind on my website, but, that's the great thing , I can dip into whatever I want, whenever I want and can even look at webinars on subjects that are far beyond my realms of understanding.
My lifestyle website (sounds posh but isn't yet, getting there) has been now acknowledged by google, I have content, I have loads of influencers in my network here on WA and I'm at the end of level 2 with this post. I'm feeling confident that I can make it all work and build out my site whilst I move forward with level 3 training and as my Mrs says ....
...ONWARDS AND UPWARDS!

PS I still have my Sinclair ZX Spectrum (Boxed).
Hi Wilson,
Thanks for the comment and it’s amazing that you still have your ZX spectrum. I sold mine about 30 years ago :)
