My Last Comment on Comments
There has been a lot of back and forth about comments- mostly from bloggers who do not like the quality of comments they receive. Over a period of time, I have written somewhere around 50 comments - have used a couple for comments on my posts, and have had two disapproved. I have never written comments with any intent on receiving compensation.
I find writing comments time consuming. I read the post and jot down notes-then I write my comments. I find I usually spend about 45 minutes per comment. Maybe even an hour. Some posts are a delight to read--the writer knows his subject, the content is well written and it is a joy to engage in discussion of the topic. Others are difficult to read and it is difficult to figure out how to write a positive comment.
I am not clairvoyant. I cannot read a writer's mind. If I'm not able to figure out what the discussion should be be about, if the answers and the reasons are not there, it makes it tough for me to write a comment that you will like. The two dissaprovals I got are my fault. I should have pulled away and skipped them. I knew when I started to read them that I should have backed out.
From now on, I'm going to spend my time in more constructive ways for me. I have content to write, keywords to find, and a website that I have difficulty understanding all the things I have to do to make it top notch.
If anybody needs feedback on their post, I will be happy to help.

Thank you for your food for thought Barbara.
I totally agreed with you, Barbara, writing comments is time-consuming, I had experienced twice a disapproval and I felt bad.
There are people like this all over the world we can try to help those that want help.

You are right, Barbara, it takes a lot of time to do comments. And you are right to pick and choose.
