NYEPI, the annual special silence day in Bali
Today March 3rd is the first day of the new Hindu year 1944.
This does not coincide with the Gregorian calendar.
This day called NYEPI marks a special event on the Hindu island of Bali
On the “New Year's Eve” preceding this is the OGOH-OGOH festival in which the evil spirits are chased away. There are parades with paper-mache monsters all over Bali, which are taken to the beach to be burned there afterward.
The "New Year's Day" NYEPI is a day that is spent in silence by all residents of Bali
Public life is halted.
Everyone, almost 4 million people, is expected to respect the silence
There is no traffic, everything is closed, even the airport is closed for 24 hours.
It is a day meant to silently make up the balance of the past year.
Facing the good and the bad and naming the goals for the coming year.
In silence, in retrospection, in introspection and meditation.
A journey inside where your core values reside and let the vibration guide you in your awareness of how to live
The day of silence also asks you to refrain from using energy and fire, not to work, not to use the internet, but to only engage in spiritual practice.
How beautiful is this island on such a day with only the sounds of nature, the birds, frogs, roosters, and barking dogs?
An evening and a night without light so that the beautiful full starry sky is visible
Normally then because as one of the rare times the sky is completely cloudy today.
The morning started gloomily with dark clouds and rain showers.
Perhaps as an expression of compassion for the pitch-black period that is now unfolding over Ukraine.
We have therefore included in our meditation today our compassion for the great suffering of the people of Ukraine and the world.
Let the peace return soon.

This is a very interesting tradition. A day of silence when everything of our busy lifestyle stops to notice creation. Wonderful!
I think of the quietness of the day. A time to smell the flowers and notice wonders of nature.
Well said, Jack! We should honor the people of Ukraine for their steadast stance against the unwarranted agression which has befallen them!
