Hello Wealthy Affiliate Community!

My name is Jennell Villanueva. I just turned 21 last month. Like many of you, I have big dreams and goals. I am here to build something I am proud of. My girlfriend and I have recently taken over guardianship over two of my siblings. Both girls, 15 years old and 3 years old. To provide for all of us the last 6 months, both my girlfriend and I have been working two jobs with over 40 hours a week.

Quickly I’ve realized that working for “the man” is not what I want to do for the rest of my life. I understand that there is so much opportunity these days to work from a laptop and have time freedom. I want that. I want to be able to spend more time with my family. and I want to be able to successfully PROVIDE for my family without having to trade so much time away from them.

I have been a premium member here at Wealthy Affiliate since April. And unfortunately, my progress is not where I want it to be.

When I first found Wealthy Affiliate, I was still new to learning what being an "affiliate" meant. For about a month, I spent a lot of time researching to gain more knowledge and finding different programs. I signed up for multiple different things and my email was flooded.

I was able to build the basics of my website by following the WA training and also by following Pat Flynn's Build Your Own Brand course (which was super helpful).

Then that was it.

I overwhelmed myself way too much and I ended up taking a break from WA for about a month. I took the time to step back a little and sort of get my focus straight.

So, here I am now. Another month later.

I quit one of my two jobs. I worked for a really big company that paid $21/hr, which was more than enough to afford my bills. Even with the good money I was making, I realized it was not worth working 40+ hours a week and not being able to spend time the way I wanted to.

So I decided to leave and take building an online business more serious.

With my website already “built”, during this time, I want to focus more on building really good blog content.

I've never been much of a writer. Also, I've been known for being a big procrastinator (I'm working on it).

I've been really finding myself getting stuck and sometimes not even knowing where to start. Or how to organize a blog post. This can be very overwhelming, but I am determined to become very fluent in blogging.

So far, I've been looking up blogging tips and taking some notes. But I would also love to hear from you guys! I want to hear how you have succeed with blogging. What paths you have taken and I would like to even know some of the mistakes you guys may have made.

ANY TIPS, ADVICE, AND REFERENCES WOULD BE VERY MUCH APPRECIATED.

PS. I told my grandma yesterday that I quit one of my jobs and I let her know I am pursuing some type of online business. Her response to me was, “You know, you need to find a good job with benefits so that you’ll be set when you retire!!”

So, I dedicate this post to my grandma. I am going to prove to you that I can achieve more being self-employed than any job can provide me with.
