When I created my site I was new at this and did not know a whole lot about affiliate links and what they actually do. I have learned that affiliate links are a great way to earn extra income using your website and making more your site more enjoyable. Besides making money it helps users find what they want quickly by going to your page and clicking the link.

However, I have learned that they are tricky to use. Some affiliate links have a set time on them. This means that if no one purchases from you in 6 months the links are no longer available for your users. You have to go back to the affiliate and reapply for permission to use their links. Amazon is one site that does this. It sucks when spend a month creating an amazon store and lose it. It was a waste of time.

I recommend that you research the company and affiliate terms before applying to it. I have also ran across some affiliate companies who give you a certain amount of time and if you do not get a purchase they close your account and you must waste a year to re-apply. Please make sure that you read the terms and think about the terms before jumping right in because it could cost you some valuable time and money in the future.

Something to really think about for sure, thanks for the heads up.

You are most welcome.

great information thanks for sharing.

No problem. Many people are unaware of it.

This is great insight to the downfalls of a being an affiliate. Thanks for sharing! Much appreciated.

Yeah I figured that out.

Don't add affiliate links until your site is getting a decent number of visitors daily. 1) Google prefers sites that aren't just littered with affiliate links 2) it'll usually take a few months to get a site established & receiving organic traffic.

So should I take out all my affiliate links on my website?

I think it is more like years. I have been doing this for many months and cannot get my website to get a decent number of visitors. I wish I would have known this before I designed it.

I was thinking the same thing.

Go back and look at the keywords you are targeting & also the length of your blog posts. Quality beats quantity and Google prefers long posts. So get writing 2500 words minimum on your most important pages.

( Also the niche sites on page 1 of search results will often be using other tactics to rank which aren't taught on WA. )

Ok I will go back through. My pages are most generally long so I do not think thats it. It is probably my keywords then. Thanks
