What? You didn't tell me I could do...this!
There are so many venues and tactics that it can be easy for one thing to overshadow another, an idea that sounded AWESOME, but then was shrouded by another AWESOME idea.
I'd like to draw attention back to the basic idea of creating websites.
As you know, here at WA, whether you are an introductory or Premium member, you have unlimited access to creating websites. Of course, if you are on the introductory plan, you must do some 'recycling' in order to practice developing new website ideas.
However, the convenience, free hosting, and opportunity to practice creating these websites is absolutely priceless.
Maybe you haven't had much luck or results yet in working out niche campaign?
Maybe you have learned to make a website, write articles, get ranked, and even have some traffic, but are still frustrated by not getting much traffic, or much converting traffic?
I have a recommendation for you. Learn how to build websites using the WordPress site Rubix combo.
Try a little exercise, take a look at some nice websites here and there, and see how closely you can copy them using a similar theme.
Try taking a look at some more advanced websites too, and realize that while not immediately obvious, the available plug-ins on Wordpress allow you to do some pretty fabulous looking, and even elegantly functional websites. Again...free.
Free...free...free.
In all honesty, I would love to dedicate myself to a niche of finding free stuff, and just showing people what they can get for free. Better yet, what they can get for free, and then get paid for.
Wait a sec, WA beat me to it.
So anyways, while it may seem sometimes as though an inordinate amount of work and struggle may go into your campaign efforts, try to realize just how many people and businesses are actually clueless as to the world of the affiliate marketer.
Even some big local business really have no idea how their own websites work, or how you can improve on their own traffic.
The occasional non-profit wants a website, or help with a website.
An artist or musician.
New small business startups.
The list goes on.
They want a website, and they definietly have a niche.
And you can make some fairly simple money, and gain new experience and competence at the same time, by creating a website for them.
Or by offering them your services as a a marketer. You get to work from home and supplement their website by bringing traffic in from quarters they never even thought about, using strategies they have never heard about.
You can train their staff as part of of your services. Train them to update, or do keyword research and target content.
You can create a website for them to see online as a work in progress, let them advise any changes they'd like to see, recommend email responder functionality, music, video, a google map, etc...a more streamlines appearance, etc...
Give them a simple of websites which you know you can emulate successfully.
Practice with plugins and different themes.
Once they have decided what they'd like, you can set about logging into WA, producing the website, and then projecting that website onto their domain when finished.
Yes, there is a little knowhow required, but it is a nice alternative source for income.
Plus, in my opinion, it is sometimes easier, especially as a transition, to operate nice and tidy little micro-campaigns for another business, as the pay is not dependent upon traffic, so much as it is dependent upon simply getting them a website, showing them how to update it, and doing a little upfront targeting.
Plus, you know that they are dedicated to their niche, even if you're not. Makes it much easier to do a limited campaign, focused on their initial business interest. It's not the traffic they need to see, it's the first page search rankings. That will sell all. After they see that these rankings do not happen automatically as a result of them simply having a website, a whole new dimension in their appreciation opens up for you to explore.
It is Soo much simpler to rank first page in search engines for a local business, as the keywords involved are usually unique to just that local business. Get their website ranked for a few first page searches for typical customers, and voila! You have earned a tidy little paycheck, with options to continue on as an advisor, or provide additional training or marketing services.
Or, you can just skip to the basics, build a website, and let 'em have it. Some people are a little overwhelmed by considering that it's not just a matter of having a website, but also rankings, SEO, email lists, etc...Some people just want a website as a sort of property, and could care less how effective it is, or could be. You can leave them welcome to contact you again for further services, and take pay for the website to the bank.

Excellent ideas in here and ones that people tend to overlook. There are business opportunities not just in "being within a niche of your choice", but helping other businesses and people with the online world (which is confusing to most). Once you have a foundation of knowledge created (what our training is intended to do), you can move in any direction that you like within the online world!
August 7, this is what I am doing now. I call it (a la carte) web design. Not the name of my business. Lol. I do simple pages for $100.00 each with a 2 page min. I also set up Google place pages for $100.00 each, and custom Facebook business pages, with two aps, for $100.00.
To start, I went through the phonebook (Remember Them) I would look and see if I could find a site for the business, if not I would build one. Then I would send them a postcard, with the web address on it. They were told they had 2 weeks to contact me, or the site would be deleted. NO PRICE was on the postcard.
I have very few, that don’t call, and most of them are ready to pay when I get there.
NOTE: Do Not...give prices over the phone!!! Make an Appointment.
The norm was, that someone would take the time to show them what they could have! Not just tell them what they could have. They were egger to talk & egger to pay.
Seeing their business NAME in the web address, is like seeing YOUR NAME in print. If an article were written in the local newspaper about YOU, you would rush out and buy 5-10 copies of that paper. The same here, when they see their name in that web address, they see that part of the address, in BIG BOLD PRINT.
As you said, the free membership lets you practice. I can now do a simple page in about 30 minutes. So in an hour that would be $200.00 dollars. With a Facebook & a Google page added to it, that is $400.00 a day, in no more than 3 or 4 hours.
I can live on that.
Bob
The down side is I have very little time to work on MY site. But that is OK. I'll take the $200.00 now!!!
I've got to get my web design speed up. It takes me weeks to build a site. Just choosing the color scheme takes me days. Thanks for the inspiration
dazzlefish, NOTE: It takes me much longer on my site. The people who don't have a site are in AWW, just seeing one that is theirs. Remember, no matter how little you know, they know a lot less. You are an EXPERT to them!!!
Most businesses don't need more than 2 or 3 pages to start. My site will have over 100 pages, as I see it now. (Maybe more)
So don't judge yourself by these SIMPLE pages. Remember the 1 page I-Phone case, in the training? Yep that is a simple page. Not what I want my page to look like.
Bob
Very good advice! Thank you for this! Now that I think about this, it would be a really great idea to just make some "practice" web sites here...I know I could use the experience of trying out different ideas, themes, plugins, etc.
There are so many ways a person can "sell" themselves and their Internet Marketing skills to local marketing. Jay has done training on this before and just did some this past Friday. This is great post to let people know that they can accomplish a lot of things here with the training at WA.

Funny, I have a Verizon local business phone book in my porch swing that I had been thinking about for this type of business since last week. On my plat for sure. Thanks
