When you go to create a your static homepage, create two pages, one called Home and one called Blog. You can name them whatever, but just as an example we'll use those. This should walk you through it well. Static Landing Page - My step by step way pictorially Let me know if you have any trouble.
Is it possible to add a blog onto a static website?
You mean have a static home page and a blog roll on a different page? You do not need a plugin for this. Creating A Static Blog Page
Yes it is. You just need to install a plugin that will give you a shortcode to insert the posts where ever you want them. This one works pretty well.

Thank you very much Numerous. I appreciate it. There are so many WP plugins you can't know them all. Plus when you go on YouTube, often what they tell you is outdated or doesn't apply to my theme. I'll check this out. Happy Holidays!!
One of the links in the description is to a list of all the shortcodes you can use to change how the list looks. If you have any problems though let me know.

I want to be a WA affiliate. I'm not interested in writing "reviews" that are recommended in the Boot Camp videos. I'm more interested in "making money online", "new affiliate
Kyle has tons of suggestions within bootcamp. Comb through the lessons to find some ideas he talks about that do not involve being a "scam review" site: Do You Have To Be A Scam Review Site? As far as a "niche" within the make money space, think about WHO you want to help.
college kids?
single moms?
travel bugs?
That can help you target your content to a specific audience.
Thank you Nathaniell for your reply. I kind of have an idea of the who. Where I am having a difficult time is trying to figure out the part of how people are "searching". There are so many videos, I can't remember where to find how to figure out how people are "searching" for what - say - about making money online - in a way that would perhaps give me the way to decide on trying to figure out a domain name based on search results. Do I make sense? I know what I'm asking, but maybe I'm not asking it correctly. Thank you again for your assistance.
You don't need a specific domain name to get ranked. The key is what to call your pages. You'll have to comb through the bootcamp courses - I can't remember exactly where the lessons are, but they are there. In fact, I link to one of Kyle's specific lessons within the link I provided in my last message, plus give some examples.
What do you like to buy? What do you watch mainly? Do you read and what kind of books? Do you have a hobby? If you can answer any of these questions then these are your niches and you can promote them and make money. If you have any other questions please ask.

As Nate said, you need to click on the "kitchen sink" icon. http://en.support.wordpress.com/visual-editor/#row-2 If you're a *visual* person I recommend http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/ultimate-tinymce/ There's also training on it here: https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/training/ultimate-tinymce-plugin-the-ultimate-training :) Rich.
The second one although it doesn't have all of those, but the 2nd one is the one rather than the one in the video. Also Nathaniel, Wordpress just had an update which changed perhaps a lot of things, but it changed the look of the side bar. I updated that just to stay up to date.
Click the link that says "visual". That should give you the panel that you see in the video. It will look a little different because of the update, but similar enough that you'll recognize it.
Also, you can reply to my comments by hitting "reply" on your original comment. It's not a big deal here because it's just us two chatting, but it can be confusing when there are several people talking on one post. I know it's weird to reply to your own comment, but that's the way it works :)
yes, saw that in the video, but it is not an option on my series of icons. In fact my icons don't look anything like those in the video whatsoever which made me wonder if there was somewhere else I could retrieve those from?
There was a wordpress update recently. Are you looking at this http://d.pr/i/D2y4 or this http://d.pr/i/RTTA
You need to find the "kitchen sink". it looks like this http://d.pr/i/vvI7 and is in that list of buttons.
