Bad luck or vandalism?

I got a ticket in December. I paid the ticket since it was waiverable and I didn't feel like spending an entire afternoon in traffic court. Who would if given a choice? I sure wouldn't.

I paid the ticket on January 18th. The clock in my car matched up to the clock on my phone. Here is where it gets interesting, when I came out, I noticed some things were moved around and the clock in my car was an hour behind the clock on my phone.

I knew instantly someone had been in my car. Nothing was missing it was just tossed around. I thought this is what a car looks like after the police search your car. I thought hey they had no reason to search my car so maybe just some teenagers being a bunch of bone heads.

Fast forward two days and I was taking my son to the dentist, my car started bouncing like a basket ball, would not accelerate, and I was stuck. I called my husband to come get my son since the on ramp to the highway is not a safe place for a child when you are stuck and your car won't go.

I called a tow truck and then had to call police to push me to the shoulder. I thought yeah right, it's a little sus that my car lasted just long enough to pay that ticket and then suddenly it breaks down with no warning.

The mechanic agrees that's a little weird too and he will be checking for signs of tampering but it is also possible that I just had some crappy luck and a part just went bad. I hope that's all it is. I don't want to think that the police would do something like this.

unfortunately, the mechanic told me it's a common thing, the police do tamper with vehicles more than you think. It's apparently very common when they suspect someone of drug dealing/trafficking and they can't seem to catch them.

They will tamper with a vehicle so it breaks down and they "happen to drive by" and they stop behind you and turn the lights on. Next they "smell alcohol, or marijuana" and want to search the vehicle.

I haven't had that situation happen with this incident, but I did shoot my mouth off at the officer that gave me the ticket last month, so who knows what he may have put into the system or decided to do for "pay back."

Not all cops are bone heads, but some are. Man, I really hope this is just a case of terrible luck. I'll know more when the mechanic actually gets to my car but in the meantime I'm stuck and that's not a good thing.

I'm thankful to the two police officers that responded to my call for help today. I hope I see them again so I can buy them a coffee as a thank you. I just hope the car trouble isn't the result of an officer from a different police department lashing out and basically saying "screw you." I wouldn't think they had time to be that petty.

As far as what is wrong with my car, we don't know yet. The mechanic said it could be a transmission leak, or it could be a bad axle. He'll call me and let me know what's wrong with it when he gets to it. There were a ton of cars in for repairs so I don't expect mine to be looked at right away. It could be a week or so before he even gets to it.

I hope it is just bad luck, Angela. :)

me too!

:)

Sounds a little scary Angela, I hope you get to the bottom of things my friend...

I was terrified that's why I had my husband get our son and I called the police...

A wise decision Angela....

The more I think about this is the more I lean towards rotten luck. I don't think the cops would tamper with something that could potentially put me and others in serious danger.

I doubt they would either Angela... but stay vigilant my friend... there are some strange folk around doing all sorts of work...

Take care ok..

I absolutely will

👍👍

confirmation there was no tampering involved. That is a relief but I am monumentally screwed. It is my Transmission but it's also my catalytic converter and possibly my timing chain. I'm about to throw my hands up waiving the white flag and yell "I surrender!!"

Hopefully just car glitches. Someone messing with your stuff is a little scary.

yes and infuriating but it goes on a lot around here. I had someone purposely putting nails and screws into my tires a couple years back. They did it 18 times in 8 months and by the 4th one I was suspicious and by the 5th one I knew with out a doubt it was no accident. I put up a reolink security camera and big surprise I suddenly stopped getting nails and screws in my tires.

Smart start!

I think it’s a little of both. Probably someone looking for something they could make a quick sale with for drug money and bad luck on the timing of your break down.

That would actually make sense given the area that I live in, we have a lot of drug addicts and unfortunately that addiction will drive these people to do things they shouldn't and normally wouldn't.

Yep!
