I am upset!

Yep I am upset, why?

I can't get my message out!

I look at the amount of followers I have here at WA which is just shy of 500 and I compare that to the social media platforms and I don't think the cumulative total of them all amounts to 500!

It is said that people tend to follow the crowd so when my social media platforms hardly have any followers I feel that may put 'regular' people off following.

When I visit the share your google plus thread where members exchange links to social media it tends to be the same familiar faces posting in there so I don't get many new follows and likes.

So where can I get more from?

I am of course happy to follow and like for anyone who does it for me or share articles.

I have been at this for over a year and although there are signs of small progress I really want my site to reach more people.

How do you all do it? How do you scale up your audience? Is it just a case of pumping out 3 quality articles a week? Low hanging fruit? Long tail keywords?

My brains fried!

I don't know if anyone out there is experiencing anything similar? Or if people have felt this and managed to find a resolution.

Maybe I am just having a moment of panic and frustration, just needing to vent a little.

I have also questioned my niche and website as I find it difficult to keep finding ideas for topics and posts, this is especially hard as it is a niche and website that is very personal to me and means a great deal.

I suppose I am just questioning everything at the moment and not finding answers or any comforting ones anyway!

Any other suggestions or wisdom will be appreciated as well.

Thanks for reading

Andy

Thank you for all your comments the links are removed. Even though I think it’s a bit disgusting that we pay for this service and aren’t allowed to put links on our own blogs.

I’ve been on the share google account thread and as I said it tends to be filled with the same people I am already following. My intention wasn’t to spam but to connect with and reach more people.

Thank you for the advice you have all given me, there is useful info that I will try and put to use so that I can grow my connections 👍🏻😁

I agree. Enjoy:)

Andy,
First, so you don't get in trouble with the WA police it would be a good idea to take your links and put them under your profile before someone reports you for spam. It is OK to put them under your profile and refer people to there.

I think this will end up a book because I don't know how else to explain it all to you. So please be patient with me.

Secondly, you have every right to be frustrated. social media is a "nightmare."

Here is what I do but it has taken me over 3 years to build my FB business page. I post very little to my FB personal page because it seems to offend everyone. I opened a FB business page and post everything business there. I beg people to join my FB business page (LOL) and still do not have but just a bit over 300 followers. What Anjeri said is a good idea but I don't have time to do all of that.

I found if I post to my business page everyday people start interacting better. I find quotes, I write quotes, I post other people's stuff that will not conflict with my own stuff, I give encouragement and I post my articles when I write them. I figure if they are reading the quotes they will see the other and eventually be tempted to look at it.

I gave up on IG because it requires too much work.

Pinterest is the biggie and I think everyone should focus on this one. Again I post quotes and link them to my websites. I set up a bunch of diversified boards because when people click on that stuff they will be tempted to look at other things too.

I go in every day or two and click follow back to anyone who has followed me or saved any of my stuff. I follow new people from other boards.

On Pinterest, it is a quick process and grows fast.

But with this said no social media platform will produce quick results. I hope I have helped just a little bit. I know how hard it is and I want you to succeed.

I don't think we are allowed to paste our stuff/links for self promotion here. It would be a great idea for WA to have a dedicated self promo thread.
I have more than 9000 connections on LinkedIn and I usually do not get much response unless I posted a lady noodling for catfish. Made fun of my name because fish have feelings....okay.
And I have the same trouble on facebook, Pinterest, Instagram, Twitter. It is a curve that takes time and practice, but totally doable. To save time, ask privately for specific advice. The blog post is great, I just don't want to see you get blocked for not following the spam rules.
The point I'm trying to make is there are a lot of ways to get more traffic. The emarketing guy, Marshall is a pro at that. Also google our search bar for this info as well as asking search engines. And share posts during high traffic times like lunchtime and around5pm...
I hope this helps you,
Nurse Becca

Hello Rebecca,

While I perfectly understand Andy's frustration, I acknowledge that you are right: we are not allowed to paste our links on our blog posts.
There is a dedicated thread for this, anyway: If you share your links there, I will be more than happy to connect with you.

Hey Andy, I can perfectly relate to your frustration. I am one of the regulars on that thread, and I know what it is all about. Personally I have always given more than I have taken.

While there are known members who - despite claiming the opposite - take without giving (I just skip them), I acknowledge that thread is a bit of a jungle, and sometimes it is very hard to keep track of who is who.

That said, I will be very happy to connect with you, lavish likes and save a lot of your pins.

Very much appreciated I shall return the kindness you show me!

No problem, my pleasure, this is what being part of a community is all about.
I suggest that you switch to a Pinterest business account, it will be highly beneficial for your traffic.

Hello, i know your frustration when it comes to social media but it is possible to find new followers.
One way is to continue adding posts frequently in relation to your site. You can also consider joining social media networking groups on Facebook that help bloggers grow their influence in different platforms.
In regard to finding topics in your niche, you can consider connecting with people who are in the same niche, researching more on the niche. I have found watching YouTube videos related to my niche connecting me and giving me new ideas every week.

Hi Anjeri thank you for the useful information I will do these things. I have started to use YouTube as I find it easier doing research this way rather than reading through medical studies.
