WOW. I'm seeing some atrociously written blogs here.

I have an idea and I would like your advice/input.

I don't mean this to be nasty. But some of the blogs I've seen on the "Give-A-Comment-Get-A-Comment" page are simply too awful for me to read, let alone muster the creative energy required to say something nice about in the comment section.

I understand that some of our members may not be writing in their native tongue so, again, I'm not criticizing. I'm just concerned.

AND I wonder if there is an opportunity here for someone like me who has written and edited marketing content for over 30 years? I've got to rejoin the workforce soon and I wonder if there is a niche out there for bloggers who want to get a quick review of their content?

I guess I could test the waters on Fiverr? Any other ideas?

THANKS SO MUCH!F

Thanks for posting this. I've been reading and thinking the same thing but I don't want to be rude because I realize that English may not be their first language. I try to say something positive because I don't have a solution other than to take a course in writing :/
I'm glad you're thinking about offering some advice or training via a blog or website and I wish you well with that. I also have been working in marketing for the last 20 years writing proposals and ad copy so this topic is close to my heart. Thanks again for posting what was inside my head!

I was thinking on this more, the best place to start would be business in your community. Check out their sites and drop in and talk to them or send them a letter offering your services.

Upwork is another one you could try.

Or any freelancer site for that matter, Elance and Freelancer.com are both other examples. I know a decent number of site owners who hire from freelancer sites, although the competition is tough.

Honestly, you can get more attention to yourself by building a site and going through that process, especially as it shows that you know what you're doing. But, it is a time investment.

Thanks so much!

Thanks so much!

Thanks!

An alternative approach is to look for big sites that are hiring and/or reach out to them. A lot of sites use people to create their content or edit it, even when they don't advertise as such.

Thanks so much! Can you give me an example of how I would go about finding these "big sites"? Sorry, but I am really clueless!! Thanks!

Within any niche there are a number of professional blogs that do really well. For example, in nutrition, there is one called Authority Nutrition. One way of doing it would be to pick a field you're interested in and look to see which sites turn up consistently in the search results. You would be looking for blogs, not magazines or newspapers. There's a surprising amount of them out there. Once people start to get really successful on a blog, hiring writers and/or editors is often a step they take.

Thanks. So what should I type into my search: blogs that hire editors? Blog editors Needed? Please Better My blog? Freelance blog editors?

Thanks!

Love the headline! LOL. -Alexx

At the same time as setting up a site offering your services, start looking for Facebook groups and forums covering this topic. See if people are looking for a service like yours. Get involved within these groups and forums offering tips for free. Get yourself known.

For forums that allow it, put a blurb and your website url in your signature link. Like Debra says, offer a freebie and get people onto your email list. I've used the Warrior forum effectively like this.
Once you have people on your list you can have a follow up series with free helpful tips and paid services interspersed.

I'm in a few Facebook groups and frequently see people asking about editing services, especially when English isn't their first language.

Keep us updated!

Thanks SO MUCH! Great ideas. Can I ask you, what is a signature link? And how do you put in on someone else's post? Thanks!

Thanks so much! So much to start learning (all over again, in some cases).

When you sign up to a forum, there is sometimes a place in your personal profile where you can leave your signature. This can be a link to your site with a few words about what its about, or offering a freebie. Then every time you post in a discussion thread your signature shows at the bottom of your post.

I think it would be a great niche. I've noticed and had the same bewilderment on how to leave a positive comment as well on a lot of new sites.

Some people don't have access or don't know how to use a spell check and grammar check. That in its self would be a great help to many.

Thanks. Yeah, I just wonder how I would get folks to come to me? I'm fast and good at the editing stuff. The writing takes me a lot longer!

Make a nich site that offers the service. Blog about it and you will have people coming from all over. Not sure how others do itthough $$/1,000 words or what. You might have to do a little reasearch into that. You don't want to over charge or sell yourself short. It's a great thing to be so good at (I'm certainly not. LOL)

Anyway, I just blogged about some free spell and grammar check tools, so until you get set up, maybe that will help some of our new WA members.

It's really the only thing I can say I'm good at! But I don't see why a site or blog would have people come running?

It's just like any other niche or product. You find keywords that will rank. (You could offer a 1st 1,000 free (so you can take advantage of ranking with the freebie sites), focus your SEO properly and you will get visitors

If that is something you are good at capitolize on it.
~D

"1,000 free" what? ;-) And how sad is it that you are the only one responding to my blog!? ;-)n Thanks for your encouragement!

If you want to pull in hits that come up with the "free spell check" etc.. then you could give away the fisrt 1,000 words of grammar/spell check free. ie. if you charge $2.50/1,000 or under. You could waive that fee of $2.50 for first time users. Charge for an addidtional blogs and words.

Does that make better sense?

Yeah, thanks. But would I blog that HERE? I was thinking of running an ad on Fiverr, but have never done that before and haven't yet gotten into paypal and making money.
Yeah, I like your ideas, thanks for the help!
