Websites building basics - Some fundamental questions?

Hello friends,

I am in the process of building my first website.

It started with keyword research and my desire to choose the topic I am interested in which was supported by keyword research basics that I would like to pursue online as my initial project.

I started with the help of Getting Started lessons which I have completed recently and also taking inputs from video tutorials on the WA system.

I decided to go with the Iconic them on word press as on the training information received which is going well.

Here are some of the challenges I am facing and would like to get some inputs if these are also seen by you and how you have addressed them.

  • How do you decide on the site structure or design - like number of pages, which page would be post page and so on?
  • For an individual page, how do you generate content and the requirement of any images for example?
  • Where do you research for content creation?

I know you posted this well over a year ago now.
But I am glad I found this.
I am struggling with the exact same issues.
And thanks to the peopled who commented below, I am now heading back on track towards completing my 1st getting started page :)

I think all your questions have been answered. I think that it is hard to decide how you want to write your content. So as Kyle says in the training, just write. I usually find that what ever I research I do, the result is for suggestions on other sides of the subject. I find that I spend time redoing what is already published most every day! So I surely do not have the secret worked out yet.
There is so much to learn, for me, that I just take time and write, then another lesson then back to editing content- an endless cycle. I doubt it will ever be right just an improvement!

Hi Amitava
First question: It is entirely up to you what structure will your website have, like number of pages, etc. Usually your homepage is your post page.
Second: Choose a topic for your website (also known as a niche), then go from there and write up content, the more the better, but make sure it's quality content, even unique if possible. Regarding the images you can search by following this training: Third question: google for likewise niche oriented websites, pick what you think is best for you, and adapt it to suit your needs, but make sure you don't copy and paste it, as Google hates duplicate content and it could harm your rankings.
I hope this helps.

Cheers!
