When searching for free images online you must be careful that the images you are using are free to use. The last thing you want to do is use an image you find online, like in Google Images, that is not really free for you to use. That is a great way to get sued.
HOW TO SEARCH IMAGES IN GOOGLE
Just because images appear online in an image directory like Google Images, does not mean they are free to use. When using Google Images you need to first click on “Search Tools” then “Usage Rights” and select one of the two “Labeled for Reuse” selections (See Below Image).
But even though these images may be free to use, you may still need to attribute the pictures to the original creator. To see if this is necessary, you need to click “Visit Page” to see the page the image is sourced from, and then look at the image details and see what kind of license it has.
CREATIVE COMMONS ZERO (CC0)
If the license says “Public Domain” then you are pretty much safe to use that image. However you will see most images having a Creative Commons License attached to it. For images that are truly 100% Free to Use, even commercially, and that you do not have to attribute to anyone, are CC0 (Creative Commons Zero).
So to make life easier on all of you, I will provide several links to some of the two dozen CC0 Free Image Resources I have found. Many of these image directories offer HD photos, and because of their size you may want to make them less memory intensive. For those with a Windows PC, I explain how to do this on the next page.
LINKS OF IMAGE DIRECTORIES THAT HAVE A CC0 LICENSE – That means you can use any of these images either in whole or in part, whichever way you choose, and not have to attribute them.
