I can't help but wonder if others are feeling the same?

Ugh, I had such high energy and excitement in the begining, and I still get spurts of it from time to time, but I have begun feeling like I'm in over my head! I will be working on my website, and just stop and stare at all the customization settings and options that I don't understand. I've actually thought to myself "this may as well be a freaking alien language" and rather than just skipping those parts and coming back later, like I know I should, I cant help from jumping all around and messing with the settings trying to figure out what everything is, which predictably lands me in a mess of confusion and screwed up settings. I can't seem to regain my footing, and consequently, I'm losing confidence. I just thought I would put this in a blog (I haven't ever had one, typically I write in journals), on the off-chance anyone else has been or is currently going through simmilar struggles. I realize that I need to just take a breath and not obsess over the minute details, but when I don't have a solid and clear grasp of a concept, I obsess over it involuntarially. I suppose that ties into my habit of asking lots of questions in general haha. Well, feel free to comment, and if you'd like to take a gander at my site, I'll post the domain at the end of this blog. One last thing I do want to mention, though, is how fabulous the WA community is, and how helpful it's been to have access to such an interactive community right at my fingertips. I am so thrilled to have found WA, and I want to thank each and every one of it's members for being such a great support team. Ya'll rock :)

Hello Amanda, we're all facing the same struggles with you at first. But look, your website looks very nice now, just do some more tweaks on it, adding more content to it. Human is not born perfect. We have to learn the skills though.

Now, if you feel confused at some mess, just break it down into small chunks and solve it from there. After breaking your questions/ matters, asking it here one by one until you get the exact anwser. It's also the way of learning, asking questions is an effective way of learning. We will memorize the solutions to our mistake much longer, meaning our obstacles have just been overcome.

Please break your message/ article into shorter paragraphs. Like your above blog post, there're no paragraph break though. Our eyes will get tired when trying to read the whole long page...This also applies to our website articles. Try to keep the paragraph 3 or 4 lines max. I think this is also a small tip that we need to apply.

You see we learn things every day, step by step...Just be consistent and keep moving forward...

I hope my idea make some sense to you. So, best wishes to your future success.

Vuong

Thanks Vuong, that was definitely good feedback, I really appreciate you taking the time to comment :D

Hey, love to see that you feel good about it.

I love below saying when I were with a program in the past:

"A river cuts through rock, not because of its power, but because of its persistence"

Merry Christmas!

Hey Amanda, It's alright everyone goes thru what you are experiencing, the frustration of not knowing all the answers, also the frustration over getting everything perfect. But,you know what Amanda like I found out is you do not need to have all the answers.

As time goes by you will gain more and more knowledge do not fuss over it, and don't ever bang your head against a wall for not having the perfect website, trying to tweak it this way and that like I have done and I would always give up, but you know what just keep it simple and write the best content you can within your chosen niche.

Your website does not have to have all the bells and whistles to make it successful. Amanda by all means DO NOT GIVE UP,success will find you, remember without failure there can be no success, so give yourself a chance keep it simple and learn as you go so you do not overload your brain

As you do this you will find that you will start doing things that you never thought you would be able to learn and accomplish. I hope for you much successes, Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Tony, thank you so much, reading your feedback has already helped me apply the breaks and take a step back to regroup. Thanks so much, and don't worry, I'm not the type to give up or give in, I just tend to get a little worked up lol

I hope you have a Merry Christmas!

Hi Amanda, I hope you feel a little relief as well as encouragement from the comments posted so far. Give more focus to your accomplishment each time, no matter how small. Hang in there 'cos we are cheering you on. As they say "little drops of water make a mighty ocean". Step by step, you will get there. Enjoy your Christmas! :)

Okay, so I just so happened to have just finished a "small success" right before reading your post, and I'm so excited even tho its not that big of a thing, haha but I feel the necessity to share it with you now...I figured out what the heck a Favicon was and then I even made one for my website!

Haha totally trivial but it makes me happy :D

Amanda, there you go...! Now remember, "What you focus on expands." So you focused on you "small success" and continued on to say "I'm so excited even tho... but it makes me happy."

Life lesson: Don't let fear, upset feelingts etc. steal your joy! I keep on reminding myself of it. Easier said than done but, just keep on keeping on. So happy for you. :) Have a great day.

I understand exactly what you mean. I guess the key is, keep pushing through it and dont give up, and eventually it will become like second nature to you.

Hi Amanda
Yes i've felt like you because once the initial excitement wears off, the real work begins and it can be really hard and frustrating.

But I'm going to be harsh here. You write really well and you have the start of a nice site - but only you can decide on your priorities.. Take a break over the next few days and then come back to it with a fresh eye.

Your article on the home page : Basic Care Knowledge. Personally I would revise this - because of the length. I would have short article just giving a a short paragraph on each of the issues, exercise, feeding etc and then I would have a link to separate pages - one just devoted to exercise, one just devoted to feeding, one to grooming etc. The reason for saying this is that you talk a lot about the exercise and then it appears at the end you have run out of steam. Just a thought

Good luck

Beverley

(oh ps. And keep changing the different parts of the theme is no where near as important as keep adding quality content)

Thanks Beverley! That's exactly the type of feedback I needed; I appreciate your honesty, and thank you for taking the time to give your advice :D

I understand where your coming from.I ve deleted a couple already lol, Ive just got one. I notice with these websites they more like a blog just add a picture. If you get what i mean. I cant seem to add a lot of the pages to where i see it on the home page. for some reason it can only show 5 pages on my site not the rest.

It can get overwhelming, but don't let it get you down. It is good to learn all the customization for your sight, but like you said, take your time. Walk away for a minute and regain composure, it will still be there when you return. :)

- Best Wishes

LOL yeah I guess that's true....not like its going to pick up and make a run for it or anything ;)

Hey Amanda. I think everyone suffers "information overload" at the start, I know I certainly did. It's just a question of doing each stage of the training, step-by-step, not getting "diverted", asking for help when necessary and then rinse-repeating. I didn't learn to swim or drive a car without practice. :) I arrived at WA with zero knowledge and the original training may as well have been in Klingon for all the good it did me, however Vicky kindly put together a "glossary" which you might find useful. https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/veronica-l/blog/wealthy-affiliate-glossary-word-book-for-the-im-beginner If I can do this, anyone can, promise! :) Rich.

thanks for that link. I definitely needed it

LOL, you're most welcome, I wish it'd been there when I signed up. :D R.

Wow, that's so great, and will save me a lot of time, as I am a diligent note-taker. Thanks Rich, as always, you've given me some awesome feedback :D

Don't worry, what you're feeling is perfectly normal. That's why it's best to take a systematic approach, and if you'd rather just plunge in and mess around with the website settings, you can create an experimental site to do that with in the meantime. Imagine expecting yourself to learn to read in just a few days, or even weeks. In a way, this is all like learning a new language: very exciting, very frustrating, and ultimately very rewarding.

Hey Amanda. I can relate, I was like this at the start. But I learnt a lot from experimenting with settings and just like you, I ask a lot of questions. Don't lose confidence! If you ever need any help, just let me know. I can even offer to go through settings through Skype screen sharing.
