I first came across Wealthy Affiliate a little over a year ago and for whatever reason was hesitant. I didn't even give it the free try. What was I thinking?!

Over the next ten or so months, WA came up more than just a handful of times in my quest for online business ideas... so I finally decided to give it a try.

And I am so glad I did!

Some things work out in certain ways for a reason

My initial instinct was to start a motivation niche site... which turned out way too broad. But I think it served its purpose.

What do I mean? Well, basically after twiddling my thumbs for almost a year before giving WA an honest try, I really needed the motivation to give it some effort.

Enter: motivation niche site

Going through the Getting Started Training (I'm almost done) made it increasingly obvious that "motivation" is way to broad. I also realized that I was writing from the standpoint of a recent college grad who wants to improve his cooking, among other things.

My motivation niche site motivated me, and I don't really care that no one visited, other than a few WA community members, leaving me comments, etc. Thank you to the WA members who showed me that this really does work.

Enter: real niche site ideas

So, let me be honest here... After only a couple days as a premium member, I purchased two more domain names—knowing that I would eventually start them—that I didn't want to lose. Luckily, they were both available as a .com! :)

While I am good at motivating those around me, what I tell them is completely subjective. I motivate them the way they need it. They way they want it. They best way for them.

As I have in my short little profile bio, I am really interested in the human experience. The way I see it, motivation does fit right into this, but (as I said above) in a very subjective and interpersonal way.

"Real" niche idea

Wellness. And maintaining it. Or finding your way there and then keeping it.

Getting sick less often. Really living. Beyond just existing. Obtaining a sense of self-awareness. And then a sense of others. Calming and quieting your mind. Removing worry and positively dealing with stress.

This is what my site will be about. Still not a hyper-focused niche, but much less broad than motivation. Plus, wellness is something I know a lot about—most of which is not subjective!

The other "real" niche idea

Communication. Okay, not really. But sort of...

Non-verbal communication. Body language. Microexpressions. Listening between the sentences (like reading between the lines). Listening to answers to questions, and not really paying attention to what is said, but why it is said.

Psychology. Interpersonal communication. Intro-, extro-, and ambiverts... whatever they are! Once my wellness site is up and going, this is what my second site will be about.

I could talk about this stuff for days on end. Going to the park or mall and people-watching. Looking in the distance—way beyond earshot—seeing a couple fighting, and knowing who started it and what either person is feeling to a pretty big extent.

This stuff applies to every single living human being. And while I know many people don't have the time, patience, energy, will, or even desire to "know" this language... I find it fascinating and several people have benefited from what comes out of my mouth when I talk about it. So why not write about it? That was my thought.

And all of the above will be my actions in the coming 12 months.
