The difference between Pages and Posts
So, I've taken 7 days to build my website and just about to think about getting some comments on it, but, do you think I could find the 'comments' section on my site? ER, NO! After a painful look around the plugins in WP, it became apparent that I should have used POSTS, not PAGES to build my site! DOH!
Anyhow, I've now changed all the pages into posts and rebuilt the site again. AND, I've got the comments section on them - HOO HA!
It's still a work in progress, but I'm adding content daily. I've added some keywords to my white board and I'm now going to list some possible blog post titles around them. I hope I'm doing this right - only time will tell, I guess!

This is good advice for beginners! Also, here is one older post from Carson, about the difference pages vs posts: Explanation of Pages vs Posts
It's theme dependent, but most also support comments on pages.
If you open up the relevant page and click on Screen Options, top far right of your screen, you can tick two boxes, Discussions and Comments.
If you then scroll down beneath the editor window, you'll see a new set of options where you can control whether comments appear or not.
That said the majority of your content should be posts anyway, as they can be grouped by categories. The Differences Between Posts & Pages
