The Blog-a-Day Challenge: A Rollercoaster of Words, Referrals, and Lamentations
A Journey of Zero Referrals, Pretty Patterns, and the Elusive Tenth Blog Post
Dear Diary,
It's day 11 of my Wealthy Affiliate (WA) journey, and oh boy, what a ride it has been! As I sit here, gazing at the "Affiliate Programme" stats chart, I can't help but notice the pretty pattern it has formed—well, except for that one pesky day that ruined the aesthetic. Oh well, nothing is perfect, right?
The graph looks like a giant "M" and "A", until that last day, which has spoiled the whole thing! Damn you, last day! GRRRR!!!
But either way, still no referrals.
Oh, the saga of my quest for referrals! If only I could gather them as effortlessly as I gather my wit and sarcasm. Alas, the universe seems to have conspired against me, for I find myself in the lamentable predicament of having zero referrals. Zero, dear Diary! It's as if the referral fairy took one look at me and thought, "Nah, this one doesn't deserve any." But fear not, for I shall not be deterred. I shall rise above the referral-less abyss with a resilience that would make even the most determined squirrel proud. Referrals, you may elude me now, but mark my words, I shall conquer this challenge one way or another. And when I do, the world shall marvel at my wit, my charm, and my ability to wrangle those elusive referrals like a true online champion.
Anyway, let's rewind to the beginning, shall we? On June 5th, 2023, I embarked on this grand adventure, armed with the audacious goal of writing 30 blog posts in 30 days. I was determined, focused, and brimming with inspiration. Little did I know what awaited me just around the corner.
Days 1 to 3 were like a triumphant march of literary prowess. I proudly birthed three blog posts into the digital world, each one a testament to my creative genius (at least in my humble opinion). The links to these literary masterpieces are now etched forever in the annals of cyberspace.
Oh, buckle up, because I've got quite the tale to tell! Remember when I mentioned that the early days of my Wealthy Affiliate (WA) journey were like a triumphant march of literary prowess? Well, let me paint you a picture of just how epic those days were!
On the fourth day of my WA adventure, something magical happened. It was as if the writing gods themselves descended upon my keyboard and blessed me with an abundance of words. I managed to conjure not one, but two incredible blog posts into existence! I practically had my own personal writing orchestra playing in the background as I typed away, feeling like the literary maestro of the digital realm. You can find the evidence of my genius in these links:
But wait, dear Diary, because the literary gods weren't done with me yet. On the fifth day, I became an unstoppable force of creativity. It was as if my fingers had been infused with a magical potion that transformed every keystroke into pure brilliance. I penned not one, not two, but three mind-boggling blog posts! Can you believe it? I was on fire! The words flowed effortlessly, and my keyboard practically sizzled with the heat of my creativity. Oh, what a day to be a writer! You can bask in the glory of these literary gems on my blog:
Oh, Diary, those were the days when I felt like I could conquer the world with my writing prowess. I was riding high on the waves of inspiration, thinking I had cracked the code to eternal creativity. I was a literal legend in my own lunchtime!
Little did I know that a storm was brewing just around the corner, ready to rain on my literary parade.
You see - then, dear Diary, things started to go a bit... squiffy. I found myself stuck in a pit of writer's block, drowning in a sea of untyped words and keyboard-treacle. Days 6 and 7 were particularly unproductive, as I failed to produce even a single blog post. It seemed my inspiration had taken an extended holiday without my permission and taken my typing fingers with it.
I thought "Fear not! 'Tis nothing but a flesh-wound! For this is just a temporary setback in the grand scheme of my blog-a-day challenge!".
You see, I may have stumbled along the way, but I refuse to let a few missed days dampen my spirits! The journey continues, and with it, the promise of more laughter, witty anecdotes, and puns aplenty. So hold onto your pen, Diary, because the adventure is far from over. The next chapter of "The Blog-a-Day Challenge" awaits, and I have a feeling it's going to be a tale worth telling.
So, I pressed on (my keyboard), vowing to keep those pages ready for the hilarious misadventures of a determined writer on a quest for literary glory!
Just as I began to question my very existence as a prolific writer, a glimmer of hope emerged on Day 8. I managed to muster up enough creativity to birth a solitary blog post into the world. Huzzah! I celebrated this small victory as if I had conquered the literary universe.
However, my triumph was short-lived, as Days 9 and 10 slipped by without a single word gracing my website. The tumbleweeds of the internet began to roll through my virtual domain, mocking my aspirations. Desperation set in, dear Diary, but I refused to give up.
And then, like a phoenix rising from the ashes, I wrote a book! Well, an ebook, to be precise. It was an achievement that rekindled the fire within me. I proudly announced the birth of my literary offspring to the world, offering it as a gift to all who dared to venture into the realm of my website. Free ebook, anyone? Sign up for my newsletter, and it's yours! (Shameless plug, I know.)
Day 11 arrived, and I was determined to write another blog post—my elusive tenth. The blank page stared back at me, taunting my weary soul. But, Diary, I refused to let it defeat me. With sheer willpower (and perhaps a touch of madness), I punched today in the face and birthed yet another blog post into existence.
As I reflect upon these past 11 days (or is it 10?), I can't help but chuckle at the rollercoaster of emotions and experiences I've encountered. From the highs of prolific writing days to the lows of creative droughts, it's been a wild journey. My blog-a-day challenge may not be progressing as smoothly as I initially envisioned, but one thing is for certain: my determination remains unyielding.
So, dear Diary, stay tuned for the next instalment of "The Blog-a-Day Challenge," where I will continue to regale you with tales of literary triumphs, pitfalls, and perhaps even a catchy title for this crazy adventure. After all, what's life without a little laughter in the face of adversity?
Until next time,
Alex The Weary Blogger

I often think about what it took for me to feel really comfortable in a new job. I just had to keep learn, adjusting, fixing and asking. The same is true with this.

Hi Alex….sounds like you are progressing nicely. Do note that this all takes patience and significant time to start seeing results.
Also, self-promotion is not allowed here. But you may link your site up under your profile. Keep up the great work.
Susan
Thank you, Susan :)
Self promotion? Ooh, sorry - I'll take it down now. Is it everything, or just the links to the book/website?
Thank you
Alex
I've reposted my blog again now - without links to my blog or website - is this enough do you think? Or do I need to change the entire blog?
Thank you! :)
Hi Alex...thank you. Just one more link I see to your site.
Basically you can freely write about your journey here on the WA blog - just not linking to your external work (which is seen as promotion). You can link all of your media on your profile if you like. Then you might suggest readers to check your profile to view more.
I hope that helps. You may learn more at: Official Posting Rules at Wealthy Affiliate Have a great day.
Thank you so much!
Really helpful!
Removed now :)
Okay, lesson learned.
Best wishes,
Alex

Thank you, Jessie :)
Yes, I'm definitely learning that now - I have to see it through, rather than giving up when I reach a stumbling block.
Glad you liked the Monty Python quote XD
Best wishes,
Alex
That's the spirit my friend!
The only way we fail is when we give up!
