Self Reflection Post 1

In the past, I have written blog posts on Wealthy Affiliate though not to the extent I plan to do with these "Self Reflection" posts. With these, I want to be very honest, hiding nothing about my successes and failures. If you cannot be honest with yourself, you cannot grow and realize your dreams. To be honest with you, like my self reflection posts or love them, I am doing this to help myself. I need it. If it helps you, I am glad.

In the past 6 months or so, my ethusiasm for my site waned. I did not make an article for four months despite earning my first $1.50. Part of the reason was that I studied abroad and had to deal with upper division coursework at UC Santa Cruz. The bigger reason, though, was that I lost my ethusiasm. I made excuses instead of making the time for my site. It is heartbreaking to know that I lost ground on my site's success when I could have been making progress towards my dreams.

I think one of the best pieces of advice I read for young people recently (like me!) was that, "whatever you end up starting out in, be ethusiastic about it." I need to be that way. For whoever reads this, do the same. Write with energy. It gives you the strength to overcome obstacles. You feel empowered.

Another important point, I have noticed that the best time for me to write is early in the morning. I am relaxed and calm. The clutter of the day has not affected my mind yet. I wake up at 6 AM. I think, once I am done with school, I will get up early at 4 AM. It sounds crazy right? No one else is up at that hour, but it is a great time to write because everything is so quiet.

If you have any thoughts or ideas, please comment below and I will be glad to bounce them off you.

Thank you so much and I hope you make it a great day!

Thanks for your honest sharing Alex, the ebb and flow of enthusiasm for anything is natural, more so in our world of a myriad "distractions". I was engaged by the title of your post and I'm glad I read it.

Lol, it made me chuckle that you were enraged by the title of my post. I should know better than to make a boring title like that. Next time will be a more interesting title.

You are right that it is natural for enthusiasm to ebb and flow. But I think it varies from person to person. You can develop enthusiasm for something, making something your passion.

I appreciate your comment. Thank you for sharing and I hope you make it a great day!

I can relate to most of what you have shared. I started my website with conviction that it was the right niche but since have blown hot and cold several times, but as you say, it important to reflect and review at times to re-focus on where you are going and where you want to be in 6-12 months and beyond. Thanks for the share!

I am glad to hear you can relate to the post. It's better to find that medium between hot and cold instead of alternating between the two extremes. It is steadier. This is a marathon, not a sprint.

Thank you for sharing and I hope you make it a great day!

Your sentences are well concise and meaningful, that is good.

I thank God you've realize your mistake, 'enthusiastic', you were not passionate about what you started. Now you've more commitment which is good. Again, trying break-away procrastination, if at least you were writing one article per week, by now you might have grow to some extent. Never mind the chances are still high for young people like you, be committed mostly here WA, you would be surprise before finish your studies, you are already a business owner of yourselves and pretty income start rolling in your account.
Good luck
Omosomi

I appreciate the compliment Omosomi. I am very glad I have realized my mistake. It has saved me. I am fortunate to have time on my side as a young person. It makes a world of a difference. Thank you so much for sharing and I hope you make it a great day!

Thank you for sharing Alex. I am sure the lack of enthusiasm strikes at us all at one time or another, or in my case several times.

I can only suggest you use these times to think about what you want for your future and how you are going to achieving it.

That usually gives me a kick up the backside, enough to get me going again with that enthusiasm that I want people to see through my writing.

Derek

I like your advice Derek. The down times are a good time to think and reflect about the future. It will be sure to give me time to re energize.

Thank you for sharing and I hope you make it a great day!

Thank you for sharing Alex. There are many of us who have been or are in the same boat! Sounds like you know what you have to do :).

Mary Ann

I appreciate your thoughts. You are right that many of us in the same boat. A lot of WA members know what to do, but do not act on it. That is a great insight. Thank you for sharing and I hope you make it a great day!

I think we all go through this at some point. I think we need to take a break and refocus. Great idea to work early in the morning. I'm not an early bird, it makes me physically sick to get up that early.
The best thing for me is to think about who I can help.

Just keep moving forward.

Maria

You are right Maria. Everyone confronts this problem. The goods is that, if everyone goes through this at one point or another, then there is a similar experience you can draw strength from. A break and self reflection to refocus always makes a difference.

I do not know what to say to night owls, but the early bird and the night owl are birds of the same feather. Find the time that works for you. Just keep on moving forward.

Thank you so much and I hope you make it a great day!
