Action plans;

Step 1; Thinking positive alone will get you nowhere.

Step 2; Taking massive action will help you to achieve your goals and aspirations.

Step 3; Staying positive through the not-so-positive events that will happen on your journey will get you to the starting line and way beyond.

You know what comes next; cliche time; if it were easy, well, everyone would be doing it?

Keys;

One of the keys can be to immerse yourself in a positive environment, share by engaging and creating relationships consistently. Stay positive while you are in the process and stay passionate about the path and journey leading you to your success.

Nothing competes with creating a plan, actioning that plan and measuring the results, making changes where change is necessary, and building on yesterday's successes. Old school, but what a school. The basics done well will always work well. Success is always on the lookout for company.

So go and take massive action; if only it were that easy!

Stepping back;

What is positive thinking?

What is positive thinking? When we know, we will find it easier to think more positively. When it comes to positive thinking, there is no wrong way or no right way. A method could be to describe it as your best way of thinking to create better outcomes. That does sound simple. Just think without a doubt; in the beginning, there is a desire to think positively. This is only the beginning; thinking in smart ways that align with your values and that you can feel passionate about will benefit you and help you create the desired outcomes.

The key here is thinking smarter. All of us have negative emotions, and I haven't met a person yet that doesn't have those dull days; no one is on the up's every day? If our thinking gravitates to creating negative outcomes, then that is what we tend to create. If we think less, then we are not thinking of more, and more is where the positive lives. When we think in terms of more, the focus is on those things that create positive thoughts, and that is where happiness lives.

Playing it out, we can sit there and think my website stinks, I have no audience and have no sales, I am wasting my time; what was I thinking. Thinking like this may be completely valid and accurate.

The thing is that thinking like this doesn't change anything. The constant is that things remain the same; less is what it's all about. You feel worse about yourself in your situation, and all of this naturally makes it harder for you to go out and create the outcomes you desire because you feel bad and less confident with less self-esteem; less makes more of the wrong kind of stuff. Your thinking at this stage works against you.

We all have our reasons for doing what we do; in our world, work creates outcomes. Work is traded for income in world terms, and that's what sets the many balls we juggle in motion.

When does it actually work?

It works when we change our mindset, I really like this Zen proverb, and it sits on the wall of my mind wall, etched there;

"Obstacles don't block the path; they are the path."

Positive thoughts are helpful in that we start focusing on what we want. Suppose we start with and maintain a positive attitude while focusing on the obstacles that confront us. In that case, we change the fundamentals of the game-fixing the things that need to be fixed. Only one thing at a time will make a substantial incremental difference.

Even if it's "only one thing a day, or part of a thing a day,"; it sounds simple; it works. There are two things to start focusing on;

1, Managing and working on an area that is not a strength, and who hasn't got some of them if we stop and think there will be some that spring to mind, some of us will have more areas than the national average.

2, Achieving mastery in the area of strength; in this way, we build on the knowledge and skills we already have; this one is gold and goes a long way in helping us reach our desired destinations.

Focusing on the above has become like a mantra for me, the last little while; it sounds simple; it works. One of the keys to making it work is starting tomorrow, where we left off today, that took a little bit of work to nail it down; in broken record mode, " well worth the effort."

"We are all heading home, don't forget to take those small steps that will get us there; look forward to thinking about more, not less, and thinking more positively."

Hi Alex. That's a great post.

I recently made a similar comment as follows at a post by Aaron Kirk. I suspect you understand this already but others might find it useful...

Most negative thoughts are triggered from the subconscious mindset/ego/self-image (values and beliefs), over which we have influence over time, as opposed to direct control in tge moment.

We cannot stop negative thoughts starting, but when they do, with awareness we can consciously nip them in the bud and turn them into something more useful.

Consistently noticing and consciously amending, eventually teaches (reprogams) the subconscious filter (mindset) to deliver more of what we consciously want and less of what we don't, by changing our values and beliefs.

A challenge most people face is that they try to think positively by using conscious willpower without realising that willoower disappears when we sleep (consciousness gets turned off) and needs to be restarted when we wake up. This is why writing down whatever we want, and re-reading daily can make a big difference.

I think development of mindset is similar to development of a business, or similar to a plane taking off! They need a solid runway and clear air space (plan), a good engine (controlled effort) and a destination (purpose). A plane uses enormous energy to take off which is sustained until cruising height is reached at which point energy expenditure can be reduced.

In addition of course, when we notice less than useful thoughts, we can take steps to upgrade our subconscious programs through hypnotic process of ine kind or another, as opposed to just pro-actively.

An excellent synopsis, Richard; thank you for sharing your insights. Negative thoughts can overtake many, and if they become our first port of call, it can be hard to take measures to overcome.

In business, this can be particularly true.

Programming our thought processes does take work; it pays dividends that can reach every aspect of our lives. Finding the rhythm that works for us and the one that we feel passionate about helps a lot.
