I got an email from WordPress today. Getting all excited thinking it was a new subscriber or new comment, I saw "A new trackback on the post ....."
So I went to Google and looked up what it is. Seems to me like it is something like a backlink but I'm not entirely sure.
The question is :
What is a trackback and what can it really do? Should I approve it or not?

It could either be because your linking to your own site or someone else is linking to your site. I wouldn't delete them, that kind of defeats the purpose. But hiding them from comments are good to keep things pretty.

Thank you for this link. I have looked at it myself. I think spammers have killed another good thing.
If I understand those right, it's just your site talking to itself. I trash them.
I get them when I link my own posts together.
just delete them. When you link 1 of your pages to another page within your site, sometimes you get these.
