Hello everyone!

I wrote my first blog post with WordPress 5.0.1 and I love it.

I was afraid to work with it after I updated my website, I knew it will be different and I've heard many things about it and not all of them were good things.

I spent today writing my first blog post and had no problem at all and I can say it works pretty good and it's easier to add photos to a post.

It took me a few minutes to find out how to add links, but I could make it work after two or three fail tries.

I was afraid to ruin everything as I was working on this new post, but everything went well, I did a few mistakes, but it's easy to delete the mistakes and add a new block to the post.

In general, I would say, don't be afraid and just write your first blog post with it.

I won't get the old editor at all, I will keep working with the new one!

I just have a problem:

I couldn't find how many words I have in my post!

My question for you is, if you have used it to write your first blog post with, how do you find how many words do you have in your new post?

I will thank you for your help!.

Alejandra.

Thanks for sharing your experience here. Change is always hard but glad you found it easy. I’ve still gotta give it a try.

Hello, AlejandraB, it actually has a word count feature which is at the top left-hand side of the editor through the circle with a small letter i inside. Thanks!

Hi Alejandra. Seemingly against the trend, we are loving it too. We worked previously in WordContent and only used WordPress editor to make minor changes but 5.0 has so many features. It will take a while to learn everything but we are really excited about it.

I am glad to hear that you liked the 5.0 version of wordpress. I do not know how to find out the word count since I have not used it yet.

RuthlynB shared in one comment here where we can find the words count, Jerry.
We all find more features on WordPress as we work on it.☺️

Great job on not being afraid of using the newly updated WordPress. I have not exactly wrote my first post with it because, I am trying to rebuild my site. However, I have had a little time to experience it by updating or refreshing old post and I must say it is like walking into a whole new office.

I love the way the new and updated WordPress is. I feel like I am going to be putting out novels with the new look and feel. I can not really explain it. I just love it too. Also I really like the fact that it Auto-saves. I can not remember if the old on did that because, I always updated as I wrote.

I have not got to experience the blocks yet. I think we should get use to it anyways. I believe I saw a message in my back office that said they were going to be permanently changing over to this newly updated Gutenberg or WP 5.0

Hi, Alejandra, you can find the word count on the top left of the page ( the circle), I do not mind using the Gutenberg, but I don't like the block but I find it easier to add banners to your post.

Thank you Ruth, I’ll take a look at it 👍

Hi Ruth,
Thanks so much for your help, I fond it right where you told me ☺️
It works pretty good !

Alejandra,
Thanks for letting us know that you are having fewer
problems now with the new 5.0 but I am still not
ready or convinced that I want to use it.
Others have asked this same question about how
many words seems it does not have a way to keep
track!
Susan

I am going to stick with the Classic until the end of January and maybe then try 5.0 out some. Let all the bugs get ironed out.

That’s my plan also!

Hi, that’s a good idea, I thought about doing that, I just updated one website and I will wait a few days to work on the others. ☺️
