Hello everyone!

I got a PM a few days ago from a member of the WA community and she asked me how could she work better on Pinterest to get more visits to her Pinterest account and from there, more visits to her site.

I told her, I was happy to share what I'm doing to keep my stats steady on Pinterest with her, but it will be also a good idea to share this with all of you, hope you find some help from me to keep working on your online business and get more traffic to your website.

....................................

My site is about "Making Quilts"

You might not be interested to know how to make a quilt, but what I want to share today here, it is not about "making quilts" but how to work to build up an online business.

The sames steps I do, you might find them useful to do for any niche.

I will share some photos from my Pinterest account, you will see it's all about quilting, but you need to work on your own Pinterest account with photos and descriptions about your niche.

............................................

Step 1

I see some Pinterest accounts don't share a description about what they are about, and the website you share it on.

If this is your case, you might need to change the description.

I love to make quilts my own way, using patterns I develop by myself, and I love to make "art quilts"

This was so wrong for me, and it wasn't working for me at all as a business!

My website was very low on visits and nobody was interested to come back :(

If I kept working like that, it will work for me as an artist but it won't work at all as an online business.

I took some time to think about it. And I had to make myself this question:

Am I here to show off about ME, Me, and more me... or am I here to build up an online business?

The answer was simple:

The two things don't go together, I can keep working on what I love and the way I love to do, but in private.

To build an online business, I need to know what my clients will love to read about from me.

......................

Another day (maybe more days than just one) to think and do some research.

...................................

Step 2

Check on people that are doing the same and they have already successful business on your niche.

You will learn from them, not to copy them.

You need to pay attention on what they do, and most of all:

What their clients are asking for!

......................................

Step 3

Make a list of the clients requests.

Some requests or question from other people's clients might give you a guide line of what you should be doing.

Those request go on the same line as you and your business?

If the answer is NO, don't go that way.

If the answer is YES, time to work on it.

..........................................

Step 4

I took my time to work on a few tutorials that might be liked by people wanting to learn how to make quilts.

I created the content for my website and I took the time to create a few PINs (images) to share on Pinterest.

...............................................

Step 5

Time to change your Pinterest account description.

Write a description of your online business that will help your client to find you and to solve a particular problem.

Successful business today are about "how to help others", if you don't help people to solve a particular problem or to live better, people won't be your client.

............................................

Step 6

Create from 5 to 10 Pinterest account boards.

One is too little, your client won't love to visit a Pinterest account with just one board,

First look and he or she will think that is a poor Pinterest account to follow.

5 to 10 boards to share to your follower and future client, and they will think you have something that might help them, they will start following you

.......................................................

Step 7

Take your time to build up your Pinterest boards.

It takes time to create the content and to share it on Pinterest.

...........................................

Step 8

Create some boards to share the content from your site that your follower will love to visit more than one time.

Example:

I used to have some boards about everything,

Today, I just share the boards that are related to my niche, the other boards that are not relevant to my follower are hidden, I made them private.

This way I don't need to delete them, and I still can save some PINS that are important for me, but my follower never see them.

...............................

Step 9

Create boards that are relevant to your followers.

You don't need to create content for your website just because you have 10 Pinterest boards to fill them up.

Example:

My website is about Quilts.

So I create these boards.

  • A general content from my website. The name of my website goes here.
  • Big quilts to make.
  • Small and mini quilts to make.
  • Free patterns and tutorials
  • Christmas quilts
  • Festive quilts

This way, as I create content for my website, I can share the same pins in more than just one board.

If someone is looking to find information about:

- How to make a quilt, - Pinterest will show that person my general board.

- How to make a Christmas quilt - Pinterest will show that person my board where I share quilts to make for Christmas.

These boards will be mostly the same as the categories from my website.

.......................................

Yes, your keywords for your website and for your business go on your Pinterest boards.

That way, you help your followers and your client to find you, your website, and your online business.

.....................................

I hope you find useful this blog, I will come back soon with more information on what I'm working on Pinterest and it's working good for me and for my website.

If you have any questions, write a comment and I will reply to you!

I thank your for making the time to read this, to give me a like and to share this content.

Come back later and let me know how it went for you.

Hi Alejandra. Your discussion on Pinterest is very interesting. I have only developed one board so far and it seems to be working well. I never really thought about other boards but I'll have a closer look at it now. The other interesting thing you said was about the keywords. I don't actually use any of my keywords on Pinterest because each one of my pins has a website link that highlights up when you hover on it. So I'm a little bit lost as to why we would need to use keywords. Jim

Hi Jim
Thanks for reading my blog and leave an interesting question.
When you add a new Pin to your Pinterest account from your website, you need to add a description on each PIN.
This is where you can add your keyword.
You can also add some # related to your niche.
By doing this, you help more people to find your Pins and to visit your website.
I will make a next blog sharing some tips on how to make a PIN from your content to share it on Pinterest.
Alejandra.

Good afternoon Alejandra,

I was sure I left a comment on your helpful post. I kept your post and now on coming back, I do not see my comment, strange..
Anyhow, my Pinterest is getting less and less but as long some people read my posts I will continue.

Hola Alejandra,

Saludos, buen dia!

Gracias estaré esperando más información tuya acerca Pinterest!
