Hi..

It is been long time I have asked a question.. recently this question came into my mind I thought about our WA community and asked them they might have some good answer and solution.

I know that choosing a good hosting provider is very important in our business but question I want to ask is does hosting can give negative & positive aspect to SEO factor in terms of ranking.

I host my all the website in a shared hosting and they are very good in support and speed but always concern me that if sometime happens with the other website which is hosted in the same server with my website as a shared hosting. If the other website gives trouble will my website will be affected because the IP is effect..or so in the eyes of search engine.

What I want to ask is simple, does hosting is good factor for SEO and is shared hosting is good or bad in terms of SEO.

Waiting for your good answers so I can understand what steps to take next.

Thanks
Fakhrul Alam

very helpful info here. Thanks for the questions and answers everyone.

Hi Fakhrul. Google and the other search engines mostly look at your content. If you have great content that is unique and focuses on helping your visitors then that is the driving force behind your SEO. However, it always is nice to have your website spread out over a number of servers for various reasons. For one, if a server goes down all your sites are not going to be affected. For speed, if you're spread out over multiple servers then if there is a traffic spike or a site that causes heavy load all of your site will not be affected. These days doing something "tricky" where you may have benefited from having a site on different IP's before, isn't really a factor.

Now, most web hosts out there give you an account that places all of your websites on the same server. It means that as you add more sites the server becomes more overloaded. This is standard practice and most of the big companies you have heard of do this.

At WA hosting we have a much more sophisticated hosting platform where your sites are spread out throughout our network. It means that your sites can be installed on many different servers. Even sub domains are spread throughout the network. WA hosting offers you a great platform for Internet marketing and it's included with your membership. I suggest using WA hosting. The above mentioned technology of spreading your sites out is one thing, but we also offer a website builder that is far superior to anything else out there. No other web hosting companies offer a website builder as easy as ours (which we call WordPress Express).

If you are worried about spreading your sites out over different IP's, WA hosting is definitely your solution - you will not get this elsewhere.

Thanx Fakhrul Alam for the question, one I have had in the back of my mind for a while and thanx Carson for the detailed explanation.

I personally have struggled with WA hosting a bit but I think that is just me. Things are a little more locked down. I have experienced repeated log-ins to tweak things.

Spreading your sites around so all your eggs are not in one basket is a good idea.

Also with IPv6 rolling out on the internet, servers, hosting etc... this will become an outdated concern.

Thanks carson for the great reply, I am not worried about spreading my site over different IP I am just worried that is shared hosting have any negative or positive factor on SEO ranking.. as you said Google does not look on hosting they look on my content so I think hosting is not major factor..

When I have huge number of visitor than I might go for dedicated server or cloud hosting.... thanks for your great help..

@Alam, we also look at load and make sure that our servers at WA are not overloaded so you shouldn't worry too much about your site getting negative SEO rankings due to being slow. As you grow your business you may out grow certain technology, but this is a good thing! WA hosting will last for quite some time even if you do get quite a bit of traffic.

@krlrrider, we've had our ups and downs as we grew our hosting network over the years. One of our major pitfalls was relying on third party software. We are developing our network, our administrative tools, security tools, and monitoring all in-house. Stability, speed, security - all top notch and will continue to improve.

Carson..what you are talking about leads me to think it might of some benefit to link my related sites that are hosted here?
