It Just Goes to Show

In the past, both distant and recent, getting startede again either during or after a Fibro fog would prove to be the stumbling block to me achieving any success.

Yes I had a successful career, but that was back in the days when I had the energy (ignorance) to fight off any Fibro attacks and at least get to a point where I could take some time to recover.

More recently however whenever I was having either a mild attack or even drifting into or out of one, it has become all to easy to stop, and then much more difficult to regain any energy or will to re-start.

My big problem in first starting and second maintaining my presence here has been that I have, all the time being here, been in a prolonged attack. That being said once I got started I feel that the encouragement within the WA family managed to drive me forward, and although it has been difficult to do anything else, it has given me something to work towards every day.

My commitment faced it's first major test last weekend. I was feeling very tired towards the back end of last week and I knew that I was having my daughter over for the weekend, and I knew that I would not be able to maintain my presence here and entertain my daughter, and come out of the weekend in one piece.

My daughter went home on Sunday, and as much as I tried for the rest of the evening to sit down and delve back in, I couldn't do it. I couldn't even bring myself to read and sort through my mails. You can imagine my dread as like a lot of us I have just updated to annual membership, and my fears were that once again I had made an investment in myself that was about to crash and burn. I feared that all of my hard work was about to come to zip, and that even in the best case scenario, all of my hard work would have been eroded away, my standing slipped and my site trust dissapeared even if I could get going again.

I tried again during the day yesterday, but the fog was just too heavy for me to work through and once again i had to put my laptop down before even getting into my mail.

Then last night I picked it up again and began to work through my mail. At first admittedly this was just sorting and deleating anything that didn't seem too pressing. But it quickly became opening, then reading, then responding and before you could know it I was interacting in the community again.

I noticed that my ranking had slipped, but not too far, my traffic had dropped, but again not beyond repair. And so my interaction grew as the night lengthend. Finding responces to questions got easier and easier, even my next post began to take shape and now only needs me to sit down and key-punch it into existance.

It just goes to show, that if you are doing something worthwhile, something positive and something that means something to you, no matter what, it is always worth sticking at it. There is always a benefit from not giving up.

My site may prove not to be the beneficial force I mean it to be for others, but it already is that for me.

Stick at what you do, and you will succeeed.

Ade,
Absolutely motivated by this post and your honesty about how the days go for a person with this illness. As I have nothing in the way of health-challenges that impede my energy to compare to, I've only a vague notion of what life is like for you.

What I do relate to is commitment-knowing that you have a reason for pursuing these goals- and remaining honorable to that
responsibility!

...Clearly I will be working in mind of your Stick-to-it Ethic.

I understand. I have fibro also. sometimes its hard to think clearly and the fatigue can be extreme. My hands do not always work well and typing is difficult (normally I'm a speed typist but not in a fibro flare-up). My fibro and diabetic ulcers have really slowed down my progress here at WA. But I am determined to not give up, even if my progress is slow. You might try CBD oil - it works sometimes for me. - Shirley

I too have fibromyalgia myself so I understand what you are talking about.

The fog can really get bad sometimes but I haven't had that is a while though but the pain and the tiredness I have had and things I just don't feel like doing.

Right now I am forcing myself to do emails and that is about it. But when I have seen your email I had to answer it because I have the same illness.

If you ever what to chat just PM me and we can.

Mary

Hi Ade,
Sorry to hear about your illness. Hope you can get a handle on it and start feeling better.

Best Wishes,
Marion

Hi Adrian, The condition is not known to me, that's why its important for people like you to write informative information and help others understand the difficulties that you and others like you face.

Adrian, please accept my apology, I thought only women suffers from that. I just talked to my wife seconds ago and yep, men too.

What??? I didn't know that.

Here Adrian, OK I'm no nothing of the remedies for such illness if that's what you might call it but I'm going on a

MEAT/,MEAT-FAT AND WATER diet. I"m on my 3rd day. I was 188 4 days ago, I am at 182 this morning, don't know the dangers or whatever but I feel better.
I don't suggest anybody to do it but so far it's working for me.

17 years ago I suffered a stroke, I was 230, 5'-8" I went down to 155 at my lowest. Now I'm lingering around 180-190. Seesaw, up and down weight battle.

Thanks for allowing me this platform to share!

Frank =)

OH, and I do absolutely no exercise. I do believe I have an eating disorder. Too much carbohydrates is my problem.

Rice, potatoes, breads( any kind). pastries, legumes, carrots and corn, bananas, grapes, nectarines, soups with flour ingred. candies, sodas, sweeteners, non-fat of any kind. evaporated milk, american cheese, condiments such as catsups, reeses peanut butter cups, oreo cookies and the list goes on to infinity.

Take out the foods in a supermarket and only less than 10% has non-carbs in it.

OK, I will get a whole lot of disagreements from people, for those who disagree please forgive my opinions.

Mahalo and Aloha,

Frank

Frank
Thank you for your kind words.
Wow well done you, stick at it if it works for you. And yes part of the control of my condition is dietary, but oh how do I wish that could include meat.

Hi Adrian

Thank you for allowing yourself to be vulnerable and sharing this post. I am so glad you did -- in this fast-paced, survival of the fittest day and age we live in, I find that we often forget that we are not robots.

Suffering from debilitating pain is a tough journey, as many who have not had that experience don't always understand the enormity thereof and the effect it has on even the most basic daily functions.

I empathise with you deeply, as I have suffered from back pain due to prolapsed discs and then further injuries from physicians' errors, but such is life, and one needs to keep going and research and try out different methods to minimise the pain.

If I may share what has helped me with a recent injury which has left me bedridden for 5 weeks so far, here goes:

- Eating a diet rich in organic foods
- Gentle Chiropractic treatments
- CBD oil
- Light exercise
- Lots of rest
- Ice packs
- Listening to my body
- Having a support system who can assist when you are unable to function, and most importantly, LAUGHTER. I have a group of witty friends, and the laughter which emanates from the continuous banter is one of the best forms of medicine in mitigating the pain pathways, in my humble opinion anyhow.

If you ever wish to PM me, you are most welcome. It doesn't have to be a lonely journey.

Best wishes and well done for pressing on and not giving up. It says a lot.

Warm regards
Delilah

I wish you could overcome your situation. Yes, just go to where you are and continue for a step leads to a success.
