2 Weeks in - Here's My Progress!
My Journey So Far
I just completed stage 2 of my training, and I wanted to document my progress. First, I need to say that I am super impressed with the training and the content within this community.
It is very clear that Kyle and the gang truly care about creating successful people using WA as their vehicle. The training videos coupled with the task lists helps to keep me focused and on target.
So far I have created 5 blog posts, I have been indexed by google, I understand keyword mining, and I know how to create search able content. On top of that, I am writing about something I am truly passionate about, and I am learning more about my target niche and I have learned more about driving traffic to websites in the last 2 weeks than I have over the last several years.
I cannot say enough great things about this community and WA!
My Market Niche
I have been a guitar player for 40 years, so it goes without saying that I love everything guitar related!
What I didn't realize was what went into making guitars, the wood, the electronics (if it is an electric), the hardware. I can hear what sounds good, but having done some research, there is so much more to it than just playing.
And when I share that with other people, whether on my blog or just in general, I can feel their energy go up as they get excited about my passion. I am very passionate about this subject, I love writing about it, talking about it, which makes perfect sense that if we need to generate blogs about something, it MUST be something we genuinely love.
Could you imagine writing about something you didn't like and then was asked to write 100 articles about it?
I am learning more and more about my niche and it doesn't feel like work. This, in my humble opinion, is the best job to have!
Making Money - the Next Steps
So now that I have my website up and running and I am creating content, the next steps are to make money. Doing the feedback exercises in previous lessons helped me to understand how many ways one can monetize a website.
I haven't decided yet what I am going to do, however, I am excited about the possibilities. The next lessons I am sure will help me decide, but now that I am thinking about it, I wanted to change my goal just a bit.
When I first posted about goals I had $4,000 per month within the 1st year and then $10,000 per month within the next year. The time stamps will remain, what I want to change are the amounts.
I didn't consider the tax portion and I was thinking in NET dollars and not GROSS dollars. (Gross is income before income taxes)
Now my money goals are as follows: $5,400 gross amount that will equate to $4,000 (4000*1.35) in net income. This will leave $1,400 a month for income tax another essentials like CPP and EI (these are Canadian terms; CPP stands for Canadian Pension Plan and EI is Employment Insurance)
I want to accomplish this in a year's time. This will allow me to do this full time without having to worry about mortgage payments, bills and food.
When I accomplish this I can quit my day job (love it!)
After I reach this goal my next goal is $13,500 per month leaving $3,500 for income tax etc. This will NET me $10,000. We can live comfortably off of $120,000 a year, and my significant other will no longer need to work either. Only if she wants to.
I want to accomplish this 2 years time (first year for the $5,300 a month a year later for the $13,500 per month).
After that, I intend to increase my business 40% every year.
This obviously may change but for now is completely realistic for me.
Ultimately I want to have the freedom to do what I love and make great money doing it! I believe I can achieve this working 20-30 hours a week, but knowing me, it will be hard for me stop working!
Current Challenges
So far I have identified 2 very important challenges. The first one involves the time it takes to write a blog. I know that there is no hard and fast rule when it comes to writing content, right now it takes me about 2-3 hours to create a post.
This includes the key word mining, to research, to writing the post. Adding pictures takes me another 30-40 minutes.
I am OK with the time, I just need to ensure that I give myself enough of it to do it all in one shot. The time usually flies by because I am so focused on what I am doing.
The second challenge is that it's not finding the time to do this business, it's staying focused on my current day job. All I want to do now is write content and start making money with my business. It's very difficult for me to exercise discipline when it comes to my current day job.
I wake up at 6am every day to work on my website and by 8am, I am so jazzed up (no pun intended!), I don't want to do anything else but this!
Feeling awesome is addictive!
So I will have to use this new-found passion to drive me with my current job until I can quit and do this online business full time.
Can't wait though! I can't wait to say to Tracy (my significant other), let's go visit your Parents in Arizona for the Winter time, we'll stay there for a month. Your job? Don't worry about it! Just quit, we are making enough money that we don't need your income any more anyway!
...**sigh!

Look forward to seeing further progress updates from you down the line.
Great progress, keep on going, onward to great success,
If we do not use our efforts to achieve our dreams we are probably using said efforts to make someone else's - ie. "The Man" - dreams a reality.
Blessings
You have made some amazing progress. I wish to follow your example.
