Something unrelated to Wealthy Affliliate

Hi guys, this has nothing to do with Wealthy Affiliate AT ALL but it's just a situation where I hope you guys can share yout thoughts on.

Recently, a close friend of mine approached me with a business plan of some US company called Amway. It sounds a little bit like affiliate marketing without the part about website creation. For those who have heard or came across this business/company, what are your impressions about it? Would appreciate some comments, thanks in advance!

Stella, gives by far the best explanation here of all the answers, and adding my experience into the bargain

In terms of the coaching aspect, well she is right, you have to coach your team and within that, you will have a LOT of people, who are not prepared to follow what you do

As a result your income goes down, because you focus too much on them, which is why so much emphasis is placed on recruitment and training

The TOP people, in MLM, earn money, through the sales of coaching aids and how to courses, more than they do from their downline, having experienced that side

As others have said, stick with online marketing, choose the right niche, you have the right platform and you will do as the name suggests become a

WEALTHY AFFILIATE

Thanks for the compliment Dave... just sharing from my experience...

It is spot on

Hi adonis94 I was once a member of Amway Australia. It is a MLM network company. You sign up buy the products and get points for them to pay you commission.

It's the old way of doing business as people can only order the overpriced products through a rep and you have to deliver them. People can't order online like we all do nowadays and you're limited with a very small range of expensive products. Don't do it.

Amway has been around for years and is Multi Level Marketing.
We have done it in the past, was not my thing.
In my opinion I would stick to Affiliate Marketing.
Hope that helps.
Darren :)

AmWay is MLM. Like most MLMs, you have to buy products to "qualify" for earnings and build a downline to advance.

I tried it and dropped it after a month. My son got into it and as far as I know, he is still in it. They make you go to a bunch of meetings (at least they do here in TX). My son has been to meetings as far away as Colorado.

Be careful and I hope your friend understands everything that is actually required of him.

HI Filbert,

Amway is the GrandDaddy of Network Marketiing. also called Multi Level Marketing.

I am very familiar with this business building concept and will summarize it for you.

Your friend is in the process of recruiting you to join his network. There is an annual fee to join of $100. You are then encouraged to redirect your everyday purchases like groceries, personal care products etc. to Amway. When someone tried to recruit me they suggested I make monthly purchases of at least $200. And this was 15 years ago. The justification is you are going to spend that money anyway so why not make purchases from your own store.

That is the easy part. In order to build your business, you must recruit others and persuade them to do the same thing. Theoretically if everyone follows this plan, you will become very rich.

So why only a few distributors become successful? The reason is it is very difficult to persuade others to change their buying habits. And they do not like to ask their family and friends to join.

Here is my warning. You cannot do Wealthy Affiliate and Amway at the same time and be successful at both.

If you decide to do Amway, you will have to devote all your time to that. There will be business meetings. Conference calls. 3 Way phone calls where you put your prospects on the line and let others do the selling for you. And so on and so forth. Most of your time will be devoted to recruiting others.

Once you have recruited a few distributors in your downline, you will have to train them. At first your senior upline members will help you out. But you will have to become very good at coaching and then helping the members they recruit. It is pretty high pressure.

I am not putting Amway down at all. Just be aware that it is not as easy as they tell you.

And Amway is NOT affiliate Marketing. Affiliate Marketing strategies can be used to promote the business. But it is different.

My recommendation is to stick with Wealthy Affiliate until you start earning an income you can live on.

Then see if you can leverage the online approach to make Amway work for you.

DO NOT DO BOTH in Parallel. You will FAIL in BOTH.

I hope this has been helpful. If you have any questions please ask.

Cheers.

Edwin

As Nikki [thriftydiva] said, it is multi-level marketing [MLM] company since 1959 where you sell health, beauty, and home care products and are paid a percentage of the sales you make which the people who introduced you to the company, also get a share of the sales you make.

Hope that makes sense :)

Personally, I'd be showing your close friend how Wealthy Affiliate has a much better business plan :)

Nicola :)

It's a reputable Mlm company but like must Mlm businesses it's difficult to make a living with it. I find the products highly over priced. Back in 2015 the average income earned by a distributor with Amway was around $280 a year. Jim

Amway is a network marketing company where there is a multi level commission structure based on your performance. The difference between affiliate marketing and network marketing is that affiliate marketing has a wide market force.

Network marketers have a deep market force. Also affiliate marketers are more online than offline. Network companies are predominantly offline.

You have to be prepared to change your thinking and come out of your comfort zone as you will be talking to a lot of people and as you climb up the commission structure, you will also be coaching your team

If you have a lot of retail sales and no team, you will not really make a lot of money. Also with affiliate marketing, you can set up an automated sales funnel and email marketing campaign, go off on holiday and still get paid.

You can do that with network marketing, but it is harder, much harder than affiliate marketing.

Although you can become a millionaire in Amway, it is much harder and a lot of work in the beginning. Even though it is legitimate you will have to invest in training to get started.

And that is where affiliate marketing is similar. So if you know you can write very well, do affiliate marketing. If you prefer to learn how to speak very well and offer a coaching service - Amway is one of the top networking companies.

I hope I have made it clearer?!

Its one of the oldest MLMs. From some accounts Ive read its almost cultish. Head on over to Reddit and look up groups commenting on it. Hope that helps.
